think about this if your only going to get in one shot for an alpha strike what do you want the 30 points from the standard hunchback or the 40 points from the swayback id take the latter and hope all them laser hits get something inportant

I'm not a fan of the Hunchback generally ... but I won't touch the swayback until I can load up with double heat sinks

Give me energy weapons over ballistics any day when I have control of the aim. I don't need the grouping advantage of the AC20 except in table top where I am rolling for location with all those medium lasers.

Is there a Variant with jump jets? Is there a variant with Balistic and Missile hardpoints or do I have to wait for the Victor?

I'll take the 4P.
Back in MPBT3025, most people took the 4J due to the range and versatility or LRM's and med lasers. I personally hated these max-range LRM shootouts and prefered other Mechs (or the 4P).
Using the 4P, one could keep chain-firing the lasers while aiming at particular parts - this worked very well for getting headshots and quickly disposing of enemy Mechs.
In 3025 it was slightly unfair due to how game credit was given - kills gave the most and when you regularly get 2 kills in a 4v4 match your team mates get upset
This requires very close range fighting, the kind you would do with the AC20 variant - the weapon ranges are similar anyway.

I would have to say that i would rock bolth the AC/20 "stock" varient, and the Hunchback 4P.
The real answer is if i thought the fight was going to become close quarter brawl, and that this brawl was going to happen verry swiftly, then the AC/20 varient would be my first choice. So that i could dump as much dammage into the enemy, with as many well placed shots as i can, as fast as i can. And not have to worry about any heat issues.
However, if the fight was expected to be more of a drawn out close to mid range fight. I would probably go with the Hunchback 4P style so that running out of ammo didnt become a factor. And i wouldnt have to worry about those pesky "Critical hit....Ammo" messages, dont get me wrong i think the female voice in the mech is pretty hot, but when shes complaining to me about Ammo explosions, its a bit of a turn off.
But thats just me.

If dealing with just the stock versions, I'd take the AC/20. Hunchback was designed to get in close and unload everything it had at once, and the AC/20 just delivers the more solid hit versus the DoT from the 4 medium lasers. And beyond the number crunching and juggling heat, I just like the feel of AC weapons, especially the larger caliber ones that can knock an enemy mech sideways.
But, if it came down to customization, and I believe someone in the topic already mentioned this, I'd LOVE To stuff a PPC into a Swayback and run around cannoning stuff down. Throw out the four medium lasers for the PPC, toss out the small laser as well, and maybe find something with lower heat generation to replace the arm med. lasers, use all the weight for heat sinks and armor and speed, and totally would be able to go toe-to-toe with the original Hunchback.
