With this patch, I get 4 fps on load in. I didn't have this pre-patch. Someone found a workaround for it. If you Alt-Tab out of the game and open up Firefox and then click back into the game, the fps will jump back up to 40 (or whatever is normal for you).
I thought I should share this workaround. I tried tweaking my video settings and nothing really seems to help. I haven't rolled back my video card drivers yet. I just installed the new nVidia update before the patch, so that may have something to do with it. I'll try this when I get home.
The success rate for this Alt-Tab, open Firefox workaround is 100%.

Thanks... I will try that tonight. I definitely tried alt-tabbing out and back like 3 times, but if opening Firefox fixes the problem I'll be ecstatic but also confused and frightened

Should also mention I'm running an AMD card, not nvidia, and XP rather than 7 (cause it's awesome!) so I don't know if the ctrl-alt-del will help anyone else.

Really. It works EVERY time. In game. Alt-Tab out. Open Firefox. Go back in game. Frame rate fixed. Not sure why. It may have to do with the way MWO is handling GPU memory or CPU thread allocation. It'll try your settings when I get home to see if it fixes my issue permanently. If not, I'm happy with my Alt-Tab solution for now. lol

I'll try that solution when I get home, but like Woodat said, there are various different reasons for my method to work. I'll gladly change my graphic settings to see if there is a permanent solution. I'll let you know if that fixes it. Otherwise, I'm happy with my Alt-Tab solution for now. It's only a minor inconvenience.

I will double-check my settings when I get home, but I don't really see how a threading issue could just crop up after playing the game for a while....

I believe its just the simple fact that you're alt tabbing out

Nope. I tested that theory first. I was skeptical, but opening Firefox works. I plan on testing to see if Chrome does the same thing. And it doesn't work if you already have the program open. You have to open a new instance of the program for it to work.
