You can stop asking now.

I'm normally a cheerful person, patient and understanding. I rarely resort to violence, or wish it upon others.

However, I feel that some of the posters in this thread seriously need to win a Darwin award. Soon.

Thanks for the reminder Garth!

As for everyone complaining about him needing to post every time zone in the world... seriously?

Stop complaining, I'm sure he has better things to do than to waste time on posting different time zones.

Microsoft Windows has this wonderful thing in the bottom right corner called a clock, you can click on it and set up to three different time zones.

Amazing, I know.

Are you talking about me and some Europeans? I'm sorry i don't live in North America. I can ask you few questions about Europe that you could not now the answer and i will give you "converter" instead of a clear answer or a message. How about that Captain America?

EDIT: And no! If they're making game for everyone they should give us more info about patch time. Not only americans and canadians playing this game. There are more people from Europe than from USA and Canada.

It was the canadian railroad that invented "time zones" so people knew when the train was really coming, us brits just stole the idea and decided to be the center ;).

And stop patching during prime gmt playing time 6pm-9pm sucks.

To find out the Timezone for you:

Hover your Mouse over the Postingdate of SL Pyro #42 and wait a Sec. It will calculate for your Timezone. For me that was Postet 19:44 GMT+1

Well, seeing as I spent nine years in Basel and Zurich, I'm sure I can ask plenty of questions and get the same problem. ;)

But aside from the time zone change questions (which google could easily answer), I was mostly talking about the "there is no patch today".

In which Prime Time would you like to see patches? Asian? Then they'll start complaining. No way to please everyone.

I'd also imagine they want to schedule patches at a time when PGI is fully staffed, so they can react when something goes wrong. We schedule downtime at work in the beginning of a work week for the same reason: if scheduled at Friday night, we'd not be able to contact 3rd party support until Monday.

there is a STANDARD that comes from Greenwich having latitude zero. thus all times should be given in regards to Uk time zone. this game is, finally, using **** sapiens measurement units (meters, tons, kilometers). why not keeping this universal spirit in mind also in this boards?

Longitude, not latitude. Also, UTC has replaced GMT for most official timekeeping.

this would be awesome but the devs did say that they are mainly catering to America as a continent. the rest of the world will follow. so we need to do the math for a while and put up and shut up im afraid. i know it sucks i feel your pain

This is an educated guess, but I'm thinking 10am-1pm PST is typically their lowest traffic of the day or close to it. That time frame is also a "core" development timeframe so all hands are on deck in the event something goes wrong and they need to back out of an update.

Regardless, someone is going to be pissed about the time.

You DO realize that they do the patch during this time because it is the BEGINNING of THEIR workday.... which, strangely enough, is most convenient for them.... this in turn gets the ENTIRE game back online sooner during the patch times.... you DO know this right.... right..... yeah... didn't think you thought that far into it.

It is actually quite inconsiderate on the part of the devs.

There is I'm sure a considerable part of their workday which is not prime European play time in which could be situated the necessary patching, but I imagine working around paying customers is a little too much for them.

UTC was adopted in the sixties and yet people still say GMT. Whether it is GMT or UTC, the Prime Meridian still runs through Greenwich, and GMT is still the de facto standard

It's probably because it's the middle of the day. Being as they're based in Canada, it can be assumed that 10am PST is a few hours into their shifts.

About unit conversions: USA specifically is stuck in the Imperial system basically out of stubbornness. "If it ain't broke, don't 'Fix' it". It's a common problem I come across even here in California.
