Yen Lo definitely needs some love, lore be damned. That ac20 arm is not a benefit it's a huge liability.

It takes years to figure out the secrets of your wang and proper usage of the arm.

The YLW kinda sucks without a missile hard point. It just dies way too quick. That being said, as overpriced in MC as it was originally, it's beginning to look like a bargain compared to the new Hero mechs... they're ridiculously overpriced.

Hopefully the changes to ACs made in today's update will make the weaponry on the YLW more useful... I'm gonna try a LB 10-X on my YLW, see how well that works...

I sold mine. The current game mechanics don't really have room for mediums, much less undergunned mediums.

I needed the garage slot more than I needed insurance to cover the chance I might run out of c-bills playing normal mechs at some point in the far distant future.

I'm not sure any of the Hero mechs are actually "worth it" at this point unless you're a collector of virtual items.

The Yen Lo Wang needs an AXE in it's left hand. Both for lore reasons, and for hitting anything that gets too close to it. Admittedly, this means that they would need to implement melee damage, too.

i do just fine with my wang where it is. i wouldn't say no extra weapon slots.

given the new incomes it seems like that 30% is more important now than it was before Dec 18th.

Interesting. 9 times out of 10 when I take a wang I get top score. Maybe you should look at your builds (stop zombie *********). Anyways, it is my mech and I say no reconfiguration.

No, its fine how it is, an amazing Brawler. 1/2 the mech is Ablative Armour. Shoot, twist, shoot, twist, shoot. I never die till after my left arm and shoulder are gone, and after that, I've already soaked up plenty of damage.

I have solo 1v1'd 4 Atlas's, and beat them all 4 times. The mech is amazing when played as a brawler.

Yen Lo Wang's relative weakness has less to do with its hardpoints, and has more to do with how under powered the AC/20 is compared to other weapon systems. One AC/20 just isn't enough firepower to really make the YLW shine.

to be honest, I love the ac20 and 2 ml's. No need to change it. Get another cent and use that with missle hard points as those mechs do exist.

The wang is awesome, just need to practice with it to master it. On the field the wang is great at the juke and dive and blast you in the face with that AC/20 then leg shot with 2xMPL. cripple smash cripple smash juke dive. I may not get the most kills in a match but I almost always get the most assist and deal top 3 damage. And it's pretty good at eating lights for breakfast.

From Warrior: En Garde

Spoiler

Yen-lo-wang is too iconic to mess with. I pilot Yen-lo exclusively and although I sacrifice many hardpoints to mechs like hunchbacks and such, I will pilot nothing else. The appeal of Yen-lo is how Justin and later Kai, were able to pit the 50 ton Centurion against numerous foes and weight disadvantages.

There is an undescribable feeling when you are engaged with multiple enemies in tight location. Ducking in and around cover, darting out to strike some well placed shots on enemy weakpoints. Moments like this bring a smile to my face. However, there are those times where you get blindsided and lose the 20 in the first 5 minutes... :'(

Just so people are clear, Yen-lo-Wang never had an axe he had a CLAW. Axe was a misconception and is mistakenly input in the Sarna wiki. The reason for the Axe confusion is the Wang's CLAW fell under the general rules for Axes...

Later on, Hanse Davion had Kai Allard-Liao's 'Mech upgraded with a Gauss Rifle in place of the Autocannon/20, three Medium Pulse Lasers and TSM. Presumably sometimes in the 32nd century, the ancient 'Mech was refitted with a Heavy Large Laser, an LRM-20 with Artemis IV, a Hatchet, and a sheild which was piloted by Danai Liao-Centrella.

Cant add the LRM-20 without the hardpoint still being there. In fact to keep it iconic in in cannon it should have something like RA 2B | RT AMS | CT 2E | LT 1E 1M

Remember we are talking hardpoint NOT the choices people make in weapons.

Just seems this mech will get left in the dust as other mechs get introduced.

Your wang will be at a disadvantage to the other centurions if you do this. Get another chassi for this build and add some missiles too.

My guess is we will probably get a discount on the upgraded 3050 YLW. Who knows, maybe they will charge us full price again! =D

I am piloting a YLW and I love it just like it is. So pls... don't change it.
You have to change your way to pilot a mech if you use a YLW, but just for the stile and the heart it is worth to learn piloting the mech.
No... just keep him as it is. It wouldn't be the YLW from the early (not Jihad) lore if you change it.
