Instead of trial mechs, everyone should start with an urbanmech. There would be only one variant. You can customize it as you wish, however since it defaults to a slow engine it will never be more than a gimmick, much like the Raven 4x but worse.

Urbies will be universally derided and outed as noobmechs but at least new players will have something to customize and call their own from the get-go.
