Just in case you missed it in the news, solar eclipse started at 5:25 pm PST for the majority of us here in the western United States. Down here in so cali, San Diego, we're getting a 86% partial eclipse which is fine by me! :P At 6:25 pm PST it will be at its apex and the eclipse will be at its fullest effect, so that's probably the best time to look if you're only just check it out once just to see it. Completely recommend that you do, total eclipses are pretty rare in this part of the US.

Cheers

Solar eclipse? Is that one of those things that occasionally happens outside? I have a window behind me I suppose... but I would have to look away from my computer to use it.

If you're really interested in that stuff there's a transit of venus on june 5th or 6th (I forget) that will be pretty cool. You'll need those eclipse watching glasses to see it though

They we're all sold out of the special glasses, so I have to wing it with a pair of polarized sunglasses lol. I promise not to stare at it.

Hahahaha, good luck with that. It won't be easy to see even with the glasses but polarized sunglasses? Let me know how that turns out for your retinas.

Just an update:

Polarized spy sunglasses NOT acceptable for viewing the sun. rofl

I couldn't look directly at the sun until is was at its maximum eclipse, just way to damn bright and even with my shades on I could barely glance at it 45mins in. But once another 45mins or so you could easily steal quick glances at it and see the kick *** ring of fire. On my birthday in 2015 going up north to washington to view a 100% solar eclipse which is rare.

jfyi - The eclipse is now over. :)

Indeed it would, quite a few websites were recommending them as great protection from looking directly at the sun. After all when you weld looking at is just about as bad as the sun.
