I thought the dancing Urbie was startling, but now one that is sporting a fireworks cannon... probably the best use of an Urbie!

Heck yes! There are a ton of people interested in 3D printing their own mechs, and a lack of solid info on how to do it. I think it's time intensive work, but being able to capture that info so others can do it would be a huge boon to the community. Document and video it! Heck, that would be a great Twitch streaming opportunity as well. Posted Image

i don't think i'm good enough to be a teacher for anybody, all i can do is maybe give rough starting guides what you have to do to get a printable object in the end

for example dynamic poses are a thing i still have to look into and hope that i can do now ;)

btw, i tried importing the catapult.cdf with the cryengine- importer (mech importer) and it does not work - i tried with the .cdf's that i imported with the mech-importer-blender addon and it works with them just as good as before
so i think that something is wrong with the catapult :/
i guess it'll be on my end - but just wanted to reach out to you wether there could be something buggy with "older" mechs

Iacov - you're not the only one. I've found there are issues with both the Javelin and the Quickdraw. The latter doesn't load into blender with the new tools and the Javelin looks like this:

https://ibb.co/gQ1psG

However, the old methods might still work, but I've not tried them yet.

I've run into that Javelin issue before. The mechs that have a rear hip geometry piece did that, but it's fixed now. I can't remember if it was a Converter or Importer issue though. Let me make sure the latest releases of both tools are on Github.

Just to confirm, that is the result of the Cryengine Importer blender add-on?

Quickdraw did work. Catapult didn't, due to some error with the cockpit. I'll have to sort that out. Are you using the latest Cryengine Converter and Importer from the github site?

Yep, I've only been using the cryengine converter you've made after I found out the "older" method was obsolete. I thought I was using the latest version of the tools too, but I'll re-download both to be sur. I'll give them a go today and get back to you. Cheers for checking.

I re-downloaded the converter and importer from your github site but still no success. I did however manage to capture the Blender error messages if that helps?

Javelin

Quickdraw
https://ibb.co/jWO3nG

Let me know if you can't see them and I'll type them out.

I've also linked the powershell log of running the converter script for both mechs, you might be able to see something in there I can't.

I'll upload the current version I'm using for both files tonight. It's possible I got them out of sync. Very possible in fact. :)

Cheers!

Also, if folks are interested, I've been printing these models for a few years now and I'm happy to make a video showing my methods? Warning - I'm not an expert but models print well enough!

Updated version of the latest version of the importer. Should fix the issues with the Quickdraw. Let me know if this doesn't work.

edit: Scratch that. Something else is wrong with the Javelin. I'll take a look this weekend. Along with Catapult and Atlas.

Evening all,

I used some free time last weekend to make a video showing how I go about 3D printing MWO models, specifically for tabletop game play, and I thought I'd share Posted Image

Happy for critique, comments, questions, suggestions... you know the drill.

Hope you enjoy!

Oh man, I wish I had your voice!

Mind if I link this video in the original post, with attribution?

Link away buddy Posted Image

I was once told I had an American accent for a public speaking voice, but that was 10 years ago! I still cringe whenever I hear it though

I'm looking to make another this weekend showing how I made an Avatar and Deimos but I think I need to re-learn how given MWO now uses cryengine

Has anyone had any luck with the Timberwolf?
I've already converted a few mechs, Jenner, Warhammer, Victor, and a friend wants to print off the timberwolf now.
Running into an error converting 1 of the files, timberwolf.chr

There was an error rendering C:\3Dmodels\Timberwolf\Objects\mechs\timberwolf\body\timberwolf.chr

Hey Heffay, thanks a ton for keeping up with this project. I've found some other mechs which have errors:
  • Thanatos (misalignment in the second layer of weapon barrels and improper material assignment)
  • Hellspawn (very few parts loaded, misaligned)
Attached are images of the issues:

Go easy on it as it's my first attempt at animating an MWO model.
