my 5M is done with its Basic efficencies, so i jump into the trial 3F to get the few more c-bills i need to buy the 5S, and im suprised by the torso twist range.
5M with Twist X efficency is 120 degrees (60 to each side)
3F without any efficencies was at 168 degrees (84 to each side)

is this a difference in between each stalker, or am i receving reduced torso twist range from basic efficencies?

any one else seeing this?

The STK-3F can twist 85° to each side, all other Stalkers only 60°. That's straight from the game files. Both of these numbers are without Twist X bonus because that efficiency in non-functional on all mechs without horizontally movable arms.

Would be nice if detailed information on the variants like this were more readily available. These 'minor details' make a big difference to my purchasing choices. I'm not unhappy with my 5S, but I prefer making informed decisions. By readily available, I mean presented with the item being sold and not requiring one to do extensive personal research to acquire.

Yeah... I too find the torso twist to be a serious liability on the Stalker. Based on the overall design of the mech it seems like it should have more range of motion.

So far the Stalker seems really bad or really bugged. Takes a few hits and pffft, no weapons, a few more and dead. No Assault class mech toughness. This happens in every defeat with it. Never had what you might call a normal well-fought defeat with my 5M.

It's the Battlemech equivilent of a tank destroyer.

Massive firepower but limited manueverability/durability.

Twist X doesn't work correctly, I own a 3F and it twisted 84 degrees before and after getting Twist X.

I can confirm that on 4N after getting Twist X I still have only 60 degrees twist. It should be 66 each side

As I said above, Twist X does not apply to mechs without arms.

That may be the case, that does not make it correct however. Twist X is for torso twist so it shouldn't have anything to do with the absence of arms.

They need to fix this.

Why wouldn't it apply to mechs without horizontal arms move? It says in description that it increases max torso twist by 10% not arm twist. If it doesnt work for other mech also, it is a bug.

Sure it's a bug, but I don't know if the mechanic or the description is bugged. I'm just saying that it doesn't work for any mech without lateral arm movement, which is about half of them. It has always been this way and been reported before, without reaction from PGI.

PS: I agree that logically it should work for any mech.

Yep twist x should work for all mechs, since 1) you unlock it 2) it regards torso twisting not arm yaw.

Hopefully they'll fix it, I was happy with the 3F, now I've started to exp 5S and 5M and I really feel "constrained" becase I was used by the 85° of the first one.

Guess I'll keep 3F for brawling and one of the other two as a long range support. This hoping that the 85 degrees of the 3F doesn't get crippled like Cataphract's arms in the upcoming patches..

Pretty hilarious that in order to become "Elite" you have to earn "efficiencies" that do absolutely nothing for your mech. Yeah, this bug has been around for months. I've never seen PGI acknowledge it in any way.

Great topic was wondering about the same, why Twist X doesn't apply in Stalker.

Was it ever reported as bug ?
