I'm a long time battletech player and frankly the old system wasn't good. You'd have a point if you could salvage pieces of mechs of the field, but you couldn't.... it was just abnormally punishing.

It's not hard; it's just tedious. Stop acting like making the game tedious is somehow a good thing.

PS- a lot of the guys on here pretend to know what strategy is... vets included. Believe it or not.... 90% of the merc units I've seen have either stylized themselves as elite merc units or have chosen elite units from canon to "be".

Funny how these elite units would be worried about ammo on a single 15 min fight......the ammo should be expensive thing is actually quite stupid in this regard because the unit isn't paying for it or canon wise had the money,

Well stated!!
Somethings done poorly detract from the game more than not being there at all. I'm ALL for a well designed R&R system including salvaged parts and an economy of availability. No need to make it tedious though

game is back to fun

I know this is an opinion that is subjective, but WHAT?!

I took a day off to try this game out. I dare to call myself a fan of the series and really want to like this particular installment, but it's simply not fun at all.

"Pick a mech that fits your particular playstyle" my ***. I picked a support role and apparently I "have chosen poorly". I simply refuse to believe that my playstyle is spending more time being dead and spectating than actually playing. Nobody cares for the ECM, nobody cares for my laser tagging, nobody reacts to the flanking enemy I've just highlighted, nobody reads the chat, nobody looks at the map.

I've tried every loadout I could fit into my measly 35 ton limit ranging from SRMs and LRMs to all types of lasers in any combination I could think of and even popped in a twin PPC with zero success. Now I simply ran out of all the "cadet bonus" money I've recieved.

I simply alt+f4 from almost every game now because I'm the only mech left in working condition and more often than not my own team relays my position to the enemy and insults me in every way possible, because obviously i'm a #%@^ing coward for not going against a couple Atlas mechs in a half-dead Raven.

This is frustrating beyond any measure.

You do realize that the raven 3L is one of the best mechs in the game right? Well played it can basically win the match itself. You simply need to get better at the game.

Yes, I've read the forums for a few hours. Running around the enemy utilising the lagshield and other abusive tactics doesn't work. I'm at the spectator screen even faster than when I attempt to stay away from the battle.

It is not invincible, you can't just run around the enemy. Again it's a learning curve issue. You simply need to get better at the game. 25 games in you will not have everything down and different mechs will play differently meaning you have to learn their style of play.

I'm currently 42 games in on this account, I've used the raven for all of them. Both the trial 2x and the 3L I've bought.

I'm an avid gamer since 1994, I know how to lead a target, I know how to compensate for the lag and I know how to flank. I don't think the learning curve has anything to do with the fact that I simply cannot go against an entire enemy team while mine is mostly comprised of DEAD DEAD DEAD DISCONNECTED DEAD.

I've had maybe four successful rounds where I claimed two or even three kills in total.

This Patch was a really good job. If they can pull this off once a month from here on out we will be in good shape indeed come summer. Surpise Hero Mechs... Icing on the cake, even if I am not a Dragon man.

Welcome to pugging. That's not an issue with the game, it's an issue with pugging, one that you will never be rid of. I pug almost exclusively and the more you play the more it evens out between crappy pug group and good pug group. If you want to avoid it, join a group.

There is a problem with that.

I happen to currently live on the opposite side of the planet from most players, and the biggest obstacle between me joining a clan in any multiplayer game in the past decade was the time zones. That and the inability to use the VOIP.

this patch was well worth the wait,
i've found a slight increase in performance which is always good,
I'm also very tempted to get one of the new hero dragons mechs,
just brought a C1 dragon as a try before i buy and, it suits me very well indeed.

yes well done to the Devs on this one.

look at the puvlic TS server for MW:O, there is a EU channel, been on the other side of the world is no excuse for not been in a team,
that's your fault not the game or the pug's

Then you just need to put up with pugs. Idiotic pug players exist in every single multiplayer game. It is not an issue with the game at all. Seriously, way back when I was plying DOOM multiplayer there were idiotic players that were useless. Gaming since 94 you should know this.

I've started multiplayer with DN3D and Q1. But regardless of that, idiotic players never really were a problem before. I can drag the team if I have to, I'm just physically incapable of doing so unless I switch to an assault class myself, which I don't want to do since I'm here for the Raven.

Perhaps it is.

I'm in the middle of Siberia. And I can't utilize VOIP regardless of the TS or Ventrilo server location.

Canon Wise the Draconis Combine used "company store" tactics offering Mercenary Companies a choice, Be last on the resupply list or pay for your supplies on credit. This bankrupted numerous Mercenary companies and left them indebted to the Dragon who then simply rolled them into their military and broke them up.

Funny how for some people MWO was emulating that to a "T".

Assaults wouldn't make it any easier to carry your team since they can die just as fast, sometimes faster than a raven 3L.

True, however they have higher tonnage limit. With a proper loadout I can deal with incoming mechs quickly instead of chipping away at them.

Essentially I have to take the DPS role (which I'm gravely tired of) in order to have an enjoyable gameplay, which makes this game not fun.

Again, this is entirely subjective.
