Long time didn't drop-by to the forum.

Orion is an awesome addition for a heavy mech, indeed. Speaking of heavy mechs, it looks like we got all of the weight range of heavy-class mechs covered.

60 ton: Dragon
65 ton: Catapult
70 ton: Cataphract
75 ton: Orion

By looking at the Orion platform design, it was known to be "a poor man's Atlas".

Can's say i'm happy about it, but you're totally forgetting medium mechs. -_-

They don't. It's only illusion, because previous announcement (of a MEDIUM BlackJack) was too long ago, and recent mechs made available in game are heavy Cataphract and assault Stalker (but it was medium Cicada before them).

We have 19 battlemechs announced now, of them 5 lights, 5 mediums, 5 heavies and 4 assaults. Weight class-wise it's very level. I hope 5th assault is pending. We also have 12 mechs playable, 3 in each weight class. I like it that way.

My god, it's full of ugly...
I must have one.

No bet on Kerensky's Hero Mech. That would just be throwing my money away.

So. Orion... Hrm. ;)

Such a wonderful history and lineage. Such an utterly terrible design.

I rank the Orion as among the the most poorly-designed 'mechs in all of BT, alongside the Yeoman, Hussar, Cossack and Black Python.

And now we know that even Alex couldn't save it (Sorry FD).

This looks better--by miles--than the... thing in the TROs, but that doesn't make it good.

It also (still) shares the Hunchback's essential design flaw. See the big, easy-to-hit trapezoid hanging off the side? Shoot that first. Two thirds of the 'mech's firepower vanishes in a puff of bad design.

Oh well. 18/19 ain't bad.

Well done look (aside of the asymmetric launcher) - feel curious what the pilots will do in the Lab to make this undergunned pile of metal a worthy combatant.

Hell yes, Orion. I doubt there's anybody who ever played MW3 that hasn't got a soft spot in the cockles for this stompy battlewagon. Sure, it wasn't the most optimal mech that ever got minmaxed, but it looked ancient and primitive and menacing. It had gravitas.

I like this version of it a lot, but I have to admit I am not a huge fan of the redesigned head. Yeah, I know the classic Orion face had that vertical bar right in the center of the windscreen, and that's problematic when you're translating it to a first person cockpit view. But the pilot's seat doesn't have to be exactly in the middle of the head; he could be off-center looking through the left or right eye like in the Atlas.

Totally agree!
The head could be different (and smaller) but I'm too happy to complain.

EDIT: When you do the orthos, Alex, please consider making the cockpit a little smaller and less centered. This is a brawler and it needs to fight until the last point of armor, like the Atlas.

EDIT2: I'm actually terrified by how big the head hitbox will be.

If only it was as powerful as a atlas but as fast as a dragon.... wishful thinking I know.
Should be a good change from old fatty phract ;)

*Cataphract comes to mind*

Worry you not, good lad, the chance they'll make the hitbox smaller is pretty big.
