Seeings how i've been away for awhile, whats been the take on peoples input on what model trim of the Stalker is basically useless/nerfed/sucky? The 55 seems to be nothing but a money pit with that XL engine for the huge target that cockpit is

No ballistic slots at all make baby Jesus cry.....

I like the 5M....a lot of the other just seem sub-par with the limited hard points

I like the 5M. Only one to have a CT energy hardpoint and only one with 5 missile hardpoints instead of 4. It gives up 1 energy hardpoint from the max of 6 though.

Hmmm, having 2 AMS sounds very nice....but 6 energy slots calls to the brawler in me. Having a hard time seeing which hardpoints are on the arms themselves vs the main cockpit.

With the ECM now in effect and months of using my founders cat with missiles, im honestly tired of using missles, LRM or otherwise.

Shooting an LRM 20 out of the NARC tube on the 5M is pretty entertaining.......not as entertaining as on the Raven, though.....:)

The STK-5S and STK-5M are the best stalkers... they have the most hardpoints on them, and the 5S has 2 AMS slots.

The other stalkers either have less hardpoints, or less AMS slots.

I like the 5S - I just sold the XL Engine to insta-buy DHS when I picked it up. The Narc tube on the 5M seemed fairly worthless, since AMS will shoot down any single-fired LRMs with ease. I just threw a SSRM2 in there for random anti-light fire while I was grinding through Basic on it.

The rest are cheaper. That's about it.

Yep, 5S looks like my dream laser and missle beach slapper of a brawler mech. Time to retrofit and a new paint job!

I suggest not totally building for brawling in the Stalker. The max twist isn't good enough (IMO) to really support that role as dedicated. YMMV.

Although, it is satisfying to alpha 4xMPL and 1xLL with 3xSRM6 to an Atlases torso (totally mint armor) and watch it melt, smoke and crumple when they are dumb enough to just stand in front of you.

Of course! But it chews up a few hundred rounds of ammo in the process

For the Stalker you absolutely want the 5M and 5S if you are looking for mastery.

I plan on keeping both the 5M and the 5S but whatever I choose for the third will be scrapped.

Do NOT use the 255XL that comes with the 5S. I will mention that it fits almost perfectly in a hunchback (260 max).

I would recommend you try a 300 standard with the stalker as it will really help you turn faster until you get anchor turn. Once I get the basics doubled I plan on trying the 260 standard again.

The double AMS on the 5S is quite nice if you can afford to spare a little extra weight for AMS/ammo.

Still not sure which variety I want for the third. I'm thinking 3H as it has 4 missiles and you could have the 2 torso missile slots as something big like LRMs.

I think the 3F is perfect for a missile boat turn the inner energy into a tag and your outer lasers/missiles as you see fit.

The 4N is missing a missile slot. As such I'd say it is the worst variety.

But don't take my word for it...

The Stalker was designed to walk straight at enemies and shoot their faces off due to overlapping fields of fire for their weapons. In that regard, it performs very similar to what the lore suggests (with the exception of those people using it just for all short range builds and ambushing enemies).

Its fun dumping LRMs in my mostly stock -5M, they can't do much about it. They probably want an Assault SRM-boat, and not deal with the Stalkers heat levels.

The 5S is a great mech, just ditch the 255xl for a standard

The 3F, 3H and 4N are all strictly inferior to the 5S and 5M (they all have fewer hardpoints)

In the game files the 3f has 85 degrees of torso twist vs the 65 available to all others
seems to have its own nice lil place in my Bay =3

The 5M is my ride of choice. Seriously it has taken over as my main mech right now. Just please don't brawl in a Stalker. The secrets are out, you will start to have a bad day soon if you do.

Fudge, that smaller torso twist movement is a killer, literally.... What the fark is the point of owning a stalker if your not gonna brawl with it? Don't tell me how to pilot my mechs...
