Hello guys, thought I'd bring my issue to this forum since tech support has been bleh.

I have been playing this game since closed beta. No problems except the once in a while bugs, however everything messed up when I changed my isp provider.

Suddely I could not run MWO anymore, I would always the the error "No internet connection detected" and the launcher would crash. I don't even get to the log in screen.

Tried the uninstall/reinstall route, but I found that now I can't even reinstall the game now as I get the same error "No internet connection detected" and it will crash out.

Nothing has changed on my pc except my isp provider and than I'm using a router now. However, I did once try plugging in my pc directly to the modem, but it didn't change anything.

I hope the more tech-savvy people here could give me some ideas, it has been almost a month since I was last able to play and am sorely missing the game and my guild buddies.

By the way, this only happens to MWO, I am able to surf, email, download, play other mmo's so 100% am connected to the internet, except for MWO.

Here's a sample of what I have been saying

Sounds as if your ISP provider has blocked the ip address that the game server resides upon for some reason. It may be that some old (4 years ago or so) problems came from them and they blocked them at that time and have not removed that block. Call your isp to check.

I just remembered your new ISP may be blocking it because of what happened a few days ago with the site being set as an attack site it is covered in this thread (not the fix just the incident)

Hello StainlessSR

My issue definitely predates the recent mwo scandal that you mentioned, as it started almost 4 weeks ago. Your point of ip block is intriguing though. How can I find out which ip addresses mwo servers are on?

I'm getting the same issue. I decided to do a packet capture upon loading the game to see if there was a block in place. I did not see any traffic coming from the game, let alone traffic that would be there if the isp was blocking traffic to the host.

I checked the event logs and it seems to be an issue with the .net framework. The event logs reference a crash with this error code:

Fault bucket , type 0
Event Name: CLR20r3
Response: Not available
Cab Id: 0

Problem signature:
P1: mechwarrioronline.exe
P2: 1.2.0.0
P3: 50527a51
P4: System.Windows.Forms
P5: 2.0.0.0
P6: 4f682206
P7: 14d0
P8: 23
P9: System.ObjectDisposedException
P10:

I tried updating and repairing all versions of the .net framework on my system and am still receiving the error.

After talking to one of the GMs I was able to get it working by resetting Internet explorer to its default settings (not quite sure why that worked considering I do not use IE, but oh well it worked).

Quote

If you use internet explorer, open your internet browser; click on "options", click on the "advanced" tab, then "reset" at the bottom, then answer "yes" to the question asked. It has fixed the problem for several users. Let us know if it worked for you as well.

OMG!!! HOLY!!!!!!

I did what you said and the game installed, patching now.... YEAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHH!!!

Threatrix man you should have worked in PGI, all this time the tech support has only been telling me to check wires, modem, reset, remove firewall and all that useless bs.

It really is a very idiotic fix I agree, considering I don't even have IE installed on my pc. I had to download one from the microsoft website.

I am in your debt sir.

IE is installed, it may simply not be updated to the newest versions or may have had the IE shortcut deleted. By going into Control Panel, internet options, that would have also worked.

MWO and many other games/programs will use hooks into IE dll for patching. Basically tis why reinvent the wheel if someone already has it setup type.

What can happen is a website or program will reset the connect to use a specific proxy settings. Setting things back to default will clear those settings and set it back to default/automatic get settings.

Having IE set to Work Offline will also cause issues.

Tis good that ya both got things going though.

This is not the only place this issue is being posted. And I have had a belly full of this issue and MWO support staffs blaming it on my hardware. I really am getting to the point where I feel they are not happy with their paycheck. Anyways, this time I had done a fresh install of win 7 on my new ssd drive. Well, it seems that IExplorer 10 is causing some kind of issue with the MWO patcher because I was unable to get it to detect my internet connection, until I uninstalled IE10 and let it role back to IE9. MWO support staff have no clue or interest in solving these issues and they basiclly told me to go fly a kite. I do not like that. And I really do not like not getting paid to do thier job for them. I'm sorry I've been crapped on tonight and I am just plain pissed.
