I completely agree with you. It shouldn't have to necessarily kill you, but then again I guess it all depends on how much and of what type of ammo you are carrying. Say - in this unlikely scenario - you had damage concentrated exclusively on the LT and it sets off an ammo explosion. If the internal structure in CT and RT are more or less intact then it shouldn't be a killing blow. Losing an arm is of course crippling.
What I wonder is what's to stop an all-laser Mech from running hot and overriding shutdown all the time? Does it cause internal damage?
