Hey guys... simple thing that was mentioned and i need clarification on it

*For in-game currency, Founders’ accounts will be credited beginning July 17th with a non-refundable amount of in-game currency equivalent to the retail cost set out in each package above ($40 value for VETERAN Founders, $80 value for ELITE Founders), and those credits may be used for in-game purchases of virtual items only. The closed beta and OPERATION INCEPTION assets will enjoy support only in North America.

It says in game purchases of virtual items... now any one got any idea what these virtual items are?? i dot want to find out that you got weapons with better ROF, damage and less heat and you can buy them with money...its more like buying gold ammo in world of tanks, which seriously effects the game..

so...ideas...

Well the Devs were very clear that you won't be able to buy a tactical advantage, so IMO the virtual items will not be better equipment. My guess is it will be cosmetic stuff like different camo, decals, maybe unique looking cockpits and hoola girls for the interior ;)

well it will make better sense if we can buy equipment like jammers, scramblers or stuff that make you a bit hard to hit.. but weapons bought by real money, thats what concerns me as it has not been told what these virtual items will be

Currency means nothing in games where the economy is controled by NPC/system.
I can be also used as a e-peen.

From what I've read, I'd have to agree that Mute is on the right track. But I also think you will have the ability to buy additional mech chassis.

Perhaps the ability to buy more mech bays in the mech lab so we can have access to more mechs. This would be a good way for them to make money from the game so they can keep working on it for us and not have to worry about giving anyone an advantage with real life money...

i hope it is like that and not purchasing weapons...

i dont want to see a large laser, PPC high end, LBX 20 v2 with more damage, range and penetration. cause it will make all type of mech armor useless...

Fuzzy Dice. Definitely Fuzzy Dice.

That aside, the Devs said over and over again that you won't be able to buy pwoer. so I'm guessing that you can buy a lot of stuff but no weapons or other equipment.
Propably Mechs I'd say, since they will cost a big deal of C-Bills. (Like the Championsin LoL: Buy with Riot Points or in-game earned IP)
That aside, if I remember correctly they already said that you will be able to purchase additionally Camo and Colors for your Mechs with real money (wasn't it in the MechLab Video?).

I don't know, jammers and scramblers sound just as bad as weapons. Not being able to hit some because they bought premium gear in the cash shop isn't much better then getting taken out in one shot by gold ammo or something.

As far as I was aware, the in game currency "C-bills" will be used the same way they are in the table top. Each chasis, weapon, etc will have it's own cost.

I am expecting players to have a starting amount on account creation (I'd guess 10 million at most, which is just enough to buy an Atlas) which they have available to buy and customise a mech to suite their play style.

If this is the case then yes, more expensive equipment will give you a slight combat advantage, but a player with more skill can still easily take you down if he is better than you.

More money is going to mean you can have a larger selection of mechs to choose from for each mission, but of course there are still limitations on how much stuff you can fit onto each chasis. Ferro Fibrous armour for example will mean your mech can take a bit more damage, but severely limits the space available for weapons, heat sinks, etc. XL engines are lighter, allowing more space for weapons and armour, but more susceptible to critical hits.

As helljumper said, there won't be a PPC, AC10, Large laser v2 but there will be the ERPPC, ER Large laser, Large pulse laser, Ultra AC10 and LB10X-AC you could replace them with. These are all weapons in the canon and they might just look like a "better" version to some, but they all have drawbacks (ER energy weapons generate a lot more heat in exchange for longer range, ultra AC's have a chance of jamming, LBX ACs spread damage around a mech etc).

There will probably also be cosmetic upgrades available to for a price.

I estimate that it will be the same system as the Word Of Tanks. Free gamebut without a premium account will be hard to buy new Mechs and betterweapons. Of course, camouflage and images will be available ;) the point isif it will have the value ...

I assume that real money currency will be able to be converted to in-game currency, so that those of us who have full-time jobs can keep up with people who grind for 8 hours a day, at least in terms of equipment.

other than that, as others have said, the devs have said that there will be no performance affecting items which are ONLY purchasable with real money

They have been very clear nobody can buy power, so not 'pay to win'. They want people to be able to buy shortcuts. Still a lot of things to buy!

In the mechlab video we clearly see MC(which has been said to be 'Mechwarrior Credits') new mechs have a price listed on both C-bills and MC, so at the minimum we will be able to buy additional mechs. Any new mech you buy is n't going to be any better than the same mech purchased only with C-bills.

Cosmetics items and temporary XP/C-bill boosts are highly likely as well.

I think that weapons with better stats should be made available, as long as they are available for everyone. I don't want to see weapons that are only purchasable with "in game currency" versus experience points(or C-Bill equivalent). The developers have stated that people with more money than time will be able to catch up to their friends who have better rigs down the line. Also, how would the devs handle the coming clan invasion without a system of weapon differentiation?
