No game you'll find tells you how many players are on. It's poor business sense to give away your secrets. With MWO, you don't even need a counter.

It's got a small, mostly stable community, that's growing as of the last three weeks. I don't need metrics to see this, and you don't, either.

If I could have numbers, I'd want numbers on the MC shifted, what mechs are truly popular for real, and other such things. Think I'll ever have any of those at my disposal?

Lots of games list online player number. Remember EVE? WOT lists it too. Why would a business not want to list its marketshare or number of customers?

Well, at least you got the small community part right. Stable, not so much. Well we can only hope and feel the community is growing.

As far as the info you want. Lots of games have the ability for the playerbase to access this information through the distribution of API keys. Will MWO ever get this point? Only they know.

If you're investing, you'll have access to these numbers, and even more of them. If you're just another player, you don't have access to them.

It's business 101. When the numbers drop, the game is obviously tanking. When the numbers increase, the game is obviously doing superwell. Right? RIGHT!?

Spock would probably say "that is logical".

What are the numbers [REDACTED] on this forum? Can anyone tell me that? Its like you are a freaking gang, always liking each others snide comments to PGI. What a bunch of [REDACTED] You ask a question, they give you an answer and you accuse them of padding numbers and lying. GO AWAY.

I'm sure PGI has the data for that too. Just ask them. I'm sure they'll reply.

Active forum population (not just people posting) can be guesstimated to be about 1/8th of the total community. This number is what you get in other online MP games with forums.

Btw. you can only see the sky falling if you are too far off the ground ;-D

You guys seem to have decided already the number would be bad honestly.
Because the way that I see it, if you thought it was positive, youd be interested in them showing it. But you arent, you are more concerned about the negative comments of the detractors of the game. People who will detract from the game more if you dont post the numbers.

as to your assertion that the game is doing well, do you have numbers to prove that claim?

Uh no I haven't. I'm sure the number is awesome. It's just meaningless and would leave certain people running around with it. There is literally no benefit to it being there so who cares?

Wargaming.net has a players online counter for WoT, the only time players ever posted on the forums about it was when it was low. Soon as it grew people just didn't mention it anymore. The posts were always....

"Look how few people are online! this game is dying"
"OMG played with the same people over and over, game is dead"
"It doesn't have as many players as X"

It's always negative crap.

Our "Most Online" for the forums is 4,935. On Dec 18th. The only number i remember before that was in the 3000s. Must be some kind of growth. : /

Growth is growth. That 3k number was up there for months and the new one beat it by almost 2k. I was happy to see that.

no, thats not what was said at all. but if you actually cared you would go back and read what was actually said, not what you want to be said.

it still doesnt answer the original question of "why do you think you need the numbers? What reason do you have that requires you to know them?" There isnt another server to switch to, so why would it matter in the slightest?
