Are you launching almost immediately after every match? I have noticed that I get some not all of the same players if i do this. Same if I wait a few matches. Especially if they are playing the same mechs as before. Kind of like syncing a 8 man there's a good chance you'll play against each other again. I notice the same people over time. That is days. If your playing 50 matches a day your bound to run into people constantly. I think I back to backed a 8 man twice since doing them. Also I'd like to note I get less search drops doing 8 man over standard. So you may be playing at some freaky times or just have bad luck. I don't know. You also need to take into consideration this game doesn't require 4 hour raids. I'll drop in run 5 matches take off for a few hours and come back. I can be the only person in my TS for an hour then 8 people will pop on.

mostly playing around 6-8pm GMT-0

In 8 man groups.

tend to get the same one to two teams against every time.

The worst thing is that you end up with having to make multiple attempts to find a game.

It was very good the first day after the patch (I guess every one was back on checking what changed)

Then it tailed off rather sharply and it's back to taking 5-15 minutes just to get a game.

Actually - particularly last patch - they went up quite a bit, so that was nice to see.

That is really nice. With a better matchmaker and netcode you should get plenty more. The game runs better after the last patch so one out of three critical things fixed.

Thanks for the report. This is one of the threads I really wanted to see that Piranha logo in. I'm left to believe we'll get the counter back in later, hopefully when "beta" tag drops.

BULL they dont. They put out the numbers they have to every magazine that will still listen to them.
Blizzard does it without a actual counter in their game, they do it through the press.
ESPECIALLY when their numbers were spiking upwards back in the day. Once they started dropping like a rock they started getting close mouthed

I meant in reference to an actual counter. I misread what you wrote initially, which is why I edited.

Why is it important for you to know how many people are online? Besides conspiracy theories?

Literally nothing.
They just want to use it as hate fuel. As simple as that.

Why can World of Tanks have a counter and not this game?

They CAN. Nothing prevents it. I just don't see what it really adds to anything when people will just use it to proclaim that the sky is falling. It's a business decision and one which I think most people, if they look at it objectively, should understand even if they don't agree with it.

Interesting.

It's like they said. Every content patch, you see all the wangs and old founder mechs come out to play, no matter how thin/dire the content in question is. If it's good, these stay for a day or so, and you'll see a lot of new names, running trials, or freshly geared mechs.

What's nice about this latest patch is, all the trials have been replaced by actual mechs, and the founder mechs/wangs are still around, and it's been almost three days since the patch. The community seems overall very pleased with it.

You don't need a player's online counter. Just look at how many times you encounter the same names in games. That'll tell you if people liked the patch, or didn't like it.

Because if that number is anything less than infinity there are individuals on this forum who would swear the game is dying based on it.

Might be why. I start around 7 PST and on weekends. I noticed on War Thunder which is russian theres close to 8g players in the morning but at night when I'll pop in from time to time there is only 1000. So I guess ultimately it's a time zone thing.

It could be at 1 million and you guys would still use it to prove thats it dying because it would still be lower then WoW's number.
Don't take me for a fool, I can smell what you guys will do from miles away. You guys are no different then the nay sayers in any other F2P game. You get the same people saying the same things in games like maplestory, dungeons & dragons online, mabinogi and any other game on the market. What you guys say here is just the same regurgitated bull**** I've been reading for the past 12 years. Theirs literally nothing you can say here that will shock me when it comes to dooms day theory's.

Hell, did you know WoW has been dead for 8 years? Well, that's according to the forums anyway...

5 pages and not a single good reason as to why you need these numbers.

man its funny you all would see what you COULD run in their faces to prove the game was doing well but you only see the negative of it.

That's the thing - it doesn't matter. The stat good or bad is meaningless to someone who has already decided it's bad. Go look at a political debate where someone lists an irrefutable statistic and there will still be individuals on the other side who shake their heads and believe it's false or that it in some twisted world supports their own idea.

The game is doing well and myself and others are enjoying it immensely. /thread

some people would like the counter JUST to know the game is doing well as well.
I learned from the fiasco that Hellgate: London was not to assume everything is great and then find out next week the servers are turning off -.-

Games don't release their numbers. It's good business to keep them safe

um the lack of such a counter would itself BE a reason to exclaim that omg already you do realize.

And I think they do it in EVE so the players can brag.

They do it in EVE because the more openness and communication you have with your playerbase the happier your playerbase is.

If you don't believe me go to their forums and read their patchnotes (that come out weeks before release) and also read their devblogs. Then after that read all the comments that accompany these (which we don't get) and while you do that notice the level of interaction in the thread between the DEVs and the commenters.

That is what keeps a pretty crappy monthly subscription game growing (just broke 450,000 subscribers) for coming up on 10 years.

a.) why would he lie? uh huh... I cant see a SINGLE reason - couldnt possibly have ANYTHING to do with money? nooo not that
b.) his words > anyone else only for people who refuse to see reason.

If you don't trust a developer's words, why would you trust a player counter implemented by the same development team you seem to have no faith in? Maybe I just fail in logic, but this seems really absurd.

Personally I have no problems getting into a match, but I'm also PUGging exclusively right now, so I wouldn't know about the situation with 8-group games. I also don't see the same name all too often and if I do, it's usually in the next round, because we both probably clicked LAUNCH at the same time and thus entered matchmaking at the same time. I'm also terrible at remembering people's names... :P
