Crab! Tough, well armed, and honestly pretty interesting to look at.

I always wanted one, ever since having a a DCMS crab and sentinel escort me to the combat area to suppress rebels in MW2: Mercs.

There's quite a few mechs on this list to consider, but you just can't deny the Highlander.

This was a hard one. The Thug is perhaps my favorite Pre-3050 Assault mech but in the end I'm not really an Assault Mech fan and the Crab has earned a place in my heart for it's look and overall solid performance. Plus, it was always the first mech I got after the Starter Commando in Mechwarrior 2: Mercenaries.

Thug is just a fantastic trooper mech. My next choice is the Exterminator, not a "great mech" but it's worked well for me and I love it's looks.

Highlander. Balanced for range and up-close mayhem, plus who doesn't like the idea of dropping 90 tons of mean on top of a Locust that got too close?

Clanbuster Black Knight....with the Hatchet.

Heck even the stock Black Knight...was pretty sweet.

Or the Davion Black Knight with the Targeting Comp.

Solid chassis with all versions.

Close battle between the Black Knight and the Thug.
But I am afraid that Thuganomics is going to have to rule the roost on this night.

THUG

I love being in a THUG.

Though the King Crab(Gauss variant) has always been a personal favorite of mine as well.

EXT-4D Exterminator. Read the specs soldiers! [In spite of it's extensive abilities, OR PERHAPS BECAUSE OF THEM!, the Exterminator did not survive the First Succession War. The various Successor State armies began to train specialized 'Mech lances purely to seek out and destroy Exterminators.] That ought to say enough right there. They had to send out entire lances to take on a single 65 ton BattleMech. Enough said... My vote goes to the enigmatic EXT-4D Exterminator. Ton for ton, probably the most effective BattleMech mankind ever created.

King Crab all the way. Double AC/20's is just nasty and throw in a Lg Laser and LRM's for some range. Deady, deadly mech.

The first mech I ever took in Battletech game the pen and pape was the KING CRAB, the first ral partha mini I bought was the King Crab. I voted for the KIng Crab even though I almost always take a Highlander when I go assault mech.

Lancelot here, though I would be happy to have any of these mechs at my fingertips. Exterminator is a close second.

i seem to be in a minority (of one), but i remember rolling a crockett out frequently and having some fun.
i believe the 1b variation to be superior (due to my own familiarity with the gauss rifle and medium pulse lasers from the marauder 5S).
also, i'll take the pulse lasers over the SRM-6's every day of the week. someone inevitably (inexcusably) is caught off-guard when this 85T mech jumps behind them after they close the distance.
