Any chance your name is from the Silent Hunter games? SH3 with the Grey wolves mod is still awesome.

Nice post about how awesome this game is and will be
It reminds me LAN parties with friends playing until we are all exhausted for even more than 24 hours.

Hehe... I was there for the first and last drop... slept about the same amount of time, but had to spend it elsewhere.
I was there to kick you off on your marathon (then I went to sleep like most sensible people
)
We grouped up again in the morning for a few hours until I noticed SIlent's mech was running circles while he had keyboard face and he went for his nap.
In the evening I was back in time to participate in the final battles, including the final 8 man battle where I saw him go down in flames!
Crash and burn...
:)
*shakes his head* You silly youngster

Now that is maximizing the gains. i could never do that (mostly because i get all antsy after a while and then bored... I have a short attention span.)
But on the bright side if i was to try it all my fiancée would say is "is there food in the house" and "maybe i should re-watch Dr Who"... I love living with a nerd. (because it is proven that nerd+nerd=awesome.)

Thought I'd resurface this thread post holidays to see if anyone repeated the exercise?

Hey guys and gals!
First let me wish you all a happy new year and let you all know that my recovery in the med bay is going well after my 24 hour stint in the cockpit.
I have been assured by the techs that the cockpit is now almost done and they reassure me that the smell will be gone soon and they have nearly fixed the annoying squeak on the chair.
That was one hell of a ride! Looking back I'm glad that I revisited my youth and prepared myself for long term engagement drops again. The overall result of this little experiment was that I learned a lot about Mech design and loadout balance to the point where I no longer rely entirely on one specific range of mech. Every mech in the bay will be more of a multi-role mech to meet the demands of the modern battlefield.
To those that have met me out there, you'll be seeing more of these Mechs in the future and if you can take the time to give me some feedback, it'd be much appreciated.
To answer a few questions:
I probably won't be doing this again anytime soon as the combat stims have a heftier price as you get older.
My C-Bill total I can only guess was in the region of 12 Million but as my accountant hasn't been seen since the new year party it is only a guess.
The wife is as wonderful as she sounds and she has shown an interest in stepping into the chair at some point
(I also tell her several times a day how wonderful she is, she's Irish so the usual answer is 'I know')
I'll see you all again soon...
