Deal with it.
If you don't want to fight alone, then do a better job of supporting your team so that they aren't all dead.

Having said that, would be cool for a big scarred up mech with one eye and a claw for a hand to come out and say "he's mine"

Honor is not cheating and not using bug exploits to ones advantage.
If you wish to fight on even ground, make sure your team doesn't die. Honor 1v1 duels is not constructive to competitive play. This game is based on teamwork and teamwork should win, not who got a good shot off in some silly honor duel.
If I kill you with 2-3 others, I outplayed you, you should have brought more friends.
When community warefare comes out, you can just forget it entirely. Its one thing to engage in a duel now where it doesn't count. But when it comes down to territory, you're going to see an ugly side you haven't seen yet. That is where I am going to be stripping down mechs to ensure a repair bill that grants a loss of cbills instead of a gain. My goal will be that if I can stop you in the mechlab, I can stop you from defending worlds. Barring that, I will see about such overwhelming defeats that one will simply ragequit, again one less defender.
Why would I do this? Because you all had the audacity to play on an opposing faction and are being punished for your hubris.

Honor is not gained by placing yourself in an equal postion as an enemy who is almost destroyed. Warfare is not sport, and a dead enemy is one less dead friend.
The enemy began at an equal position. They lost more assets than their opponent. Now they should be given a second chance?
Foolishness.

I do not care about your fun in the first place.
I care about winning as fast and as reliable as possible.

Serious, for true? That's awesome! I'm honestly feeling pretty burned out on MWO for the foreseeable future and haven't been playing near as much, but fun scenes like that pull me out of the "grind" for a small bit. Once in a while you get lucky staying post-mortem and get a sweet nailbiter.

About the responses in the thread though... seems like you guys are too attached to the pack mentality, a real warrior will accept a challenge, OP was right about the balls and growing part.
What a shame, I expected more from the guys here...
