Hello, I recently downloaded the game to play with a few friends from work. After downloading, Installing and Patching I log into the game and get ready to launch and every time I click one of the trial mechs it just closes my game. Not sure what's wrong...I don't think it's my PC...My graphics card isn't overclocked and I can run other MMO's on max settings. I can't even seem to get out of the menu for this one. Not sure what I'm doing wrong...any advice would be greatly appreciated

I think it would help a lot more if you could post your PC specs so that people can see if you have a hardware problem.

I have Windows 7 Ultimate 64 Bit
AMD Athlon II X4 645 Processer 3.10GHz
8GB Ram
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 550 TI

Umm will that help?

Yeah, you should be fine on those specs. Can you be more specific as to what you're doing that causes the crash? More detail helps. Ie; does it crash when you try to select a 'mech, or when you hit "Launch"? Does anything else cause the crash? Do your video drivers complain at you? Does your computer do anything else (lock up for a moment)? Etc.

The more specific, detailed information you provide, the better we'll be able to help you.

Failing all else, send an email to support@mwomercs.com, include as much specific, detailed information as you can about the issue, and attach a dxdiag to it.

P.S. There's a very subtle hint about good question-asking behavior while troubleshooting anything that's hidden somewhere in this post. Can you find it?

I start up the game and log in. When I go to select a trial mech I just go straight to desktop...No errors or anything. If it does allow me to select a trial mech when I click launch nothing happens. And I'm sorry, It really doesn't get any more specific than that. Log in -> Select trial mech -> Desktop

That's very odd because I have not encountered that error on the forums before. What I can recommend for now is to try all settings in the client (low and high) to see if it has any effect. If no one here can help you, I recommend you send a ticket to support@mwomercs.com with your DXDIAG and what you posted here.

I don't think it's your PC specs though since I am able to run MWO on dual core systems and my main PC only has 3 cores. You can also make sure that you have updated drivers (at the risk of sounding like a customer support rep).

Might be the corrupted game files.
Try the full uninstallation & reinstalltion.

Get the omnicron.log file from MWO's root folder or one of the sub folders, and I would think that the last few lines would give an indication as to what type of error caused the crash to desktop (CTD).
