Not sure if I should post this as a bug but has anyone every had the experience where their armor seems to me bade of paper? It's happened to me a few times but just then, in a fully armored Stalker, a single large laser takes a section from full armor to nothing. Then it happens again on a different section. A single large laser just shouldn't be capable of this.

And yes, I do know it was only a single large laser, the Raven only had one equipped!

As a corollary, I've also had times where I've fired, say 4 large lasers and hit, only to do none or barely any damage to a stationary target.

Anyone else experience anything similar?

not sure about this specifically, but ive fired AC20 rounds and they've passed through the torso and hit the target's rear armour. I think hit detection, along with netcode, are issues that are being worked on at the mo (in the mean time just try not to let it get you down!).

Edit: my spelling is awful at the moment, need to get back to universitaayy

You really shouldn't post while drunk.

I've had the problem with weapons passing through armored sections and hitting unarmored sections on the opposing side, this isn't that. Just weapons doing way more or way less than they should.

S!

Seen PPC bursts go thru a Mech and hit the ground behind it doing no damage whatsoever to the Mech  Seeing hits register but no damage(thank you lag shield) etc. So some room of improvement there.

There's a multitude of anomalies with armor and hit detection in the game ATM.

I've suffered "phantom" damage from invisible and inaudible sources. Despite my excellent ping (around 20), I've hit people in some sections only to have the damage appear in others. And yes, I've fired at Ravens, even really slow or immobile ones, and seen them suffer only a tiny, tiny fraction of the damage.

Latency, hit detection, netcode... anything can and does go wrong.

The OP is right we tested the armor on all the mechs versus all weapons and the armor is like paper. The netcode and bugs set aside as another issue the armors are just weak. Mechs should be tough to kill some have argued this point since the beginning of beta. The weapons are so overpowered compared to the armor its insane that's why a raven with one large laser can kill a assault or heavy. Ecm is just a bonus to there easy ability to kill bigger mechs a single light or medium should not be able to kill a heavy or assault unless it has already been damaged by other mechs.

I was just in one of those suicidingly-boring long-range matches and I noticed that one of my opponents' lasers (either a LL or an ERLL) didn't make any noise when it hit my armor.

That must have been where some of that phantom damage was coming from... long-range, inaudible lasers. Don't really know you're being hit with one unless you pay attention to your paper doll.

Had this last night. Got behind an Atlas standing on the ridge at E5 in Frozen City undetected . The Atlas was standing still firing at folks on the other side of the ridge. I stopped and unleashed 4 full 4xLL alphas into his back center torso from a range of 100m. Said Atlas then turns around and with the help of the rest of his team pounds me into dust. The end of round score board showed I inflicted 148 damage. I'm sure almost all of that was on the Atlas.

I have seen this as well ... personaly I tend to notice it most with Ravens, this morning hit a stationary one with 4 SRM6's whatched the missles pass right through and hit the dirt behind him at point blank range. Other instances again most noticibly with raven's hitting them only to register no or little damage (IE 3 LBX10 alpha with my Muromets should leave a pretty good mark, yet nothin or so little as to be superflous, again at close range and near stationary).
