Actually i am wondering how much bandwith MWO needs?
I do have the problem that i have to go for 3G. This means several times, i do have only about 384 kbps... It seems that if the connection is going down, i get disconnected and the message "Session is lost" is showing up.
So, is it only coming from my limited bandwidth? Or are there any other reasons possible?
Cheers,
Draal

Over the summer on a trip to Florida, I used my phone as a wifi hotspot and played Diablo 3 while riding down I-95.
Managed about a 100ms ping, too. I don't see it being much of a problem as long as you have a strong, constant signal.

Problem is that might work out for D3... I sure know that 384 kbps were sufficient for playing MMOs like WoW, AoC, Warhammer...
But for a shooter like MWO?
My ping isn't that bad. Around 50 ms most of the time.
A constant signal might be a problem, don't know. I should get me some monitoring software and check this.

Everything that you do goes to the server in this game. You are going to need something a bit higher then 384 kb/s. I also don't think you will be able use 3g either.

It's more important that the signal is stable. I've made do with a 384kbps connection for a racing game. But you are definitely going to have a really laggy experience with it anyway.

I remember when I lived at our old house I had to play World of Tanks tethered to my 3G phone. I usually got pings around 130 and never had a dropped connection.
I often tether to my 4G phone to play MWO, and my ping sits around 80. As for data useage, I have used 168MB one day playing the game and using TS3 for 4 hours-ish. Unless you're geographically remote or the service in your area is poor, I wouldn't imagine tethering would come with penalties you couldn't overcome by lag-shooting a smidgen more.
"Session lost" happens to me when our home-installed 4G connection drops. For whatever reason, it never happens when I'm using FoxFi to tether to my RAZR MAXX.

Ok, my bad... It is 50ms in general (i was posting my usual ping as i was speaking about my i-net acess in general), not MWO.
Actually i did my ingame ping today a few times. It was about 120ms.

Your question concerns two things: Connection type and Bandwidth
Wireless (even cellular) is not a very good connection medium. I could go into all the protocols in use to explain it (-->HERE<-- is a good start) but there is a lot of technical mumbo-jumbo.
The best thing to have is a wired connection (Cat 5e can support up to 1 Gigabit per second).
Bandwidth is a function of many different things including (but not limited to) your hard drive's read/write/seek time, your CPU speed, your RAM available and its speed, what processes are running on your computer as well as the device to which you are connecting. Think of bandwidth like a strawberry milkshake. The amount of bandwidth you have is like the straw. If you are trying to suck a strawberry (think of this like watching a streaming movie or possibly even getting Windows updates) through the straw, it will take a significant amount of time and minimize the flow of the milkshake itself (in this sense, like the information needed to play a game like MW:O).
I would personally recommend not using your cellular wireless connectivity to play this game if at all possible. However, your mileage may vary....

well, to be fair. A 100ms ping was about the best you could get from the D3 servers.
