Make Clan Tech as good as it should be (DHS at 2.0 and 2 crit slots, expected Clan weights for weapons, Omni slots, etc).

All Clan vs. IS drops should require PureTech (Clan Tech on Clan OmniMechs, IS Tech on IS BattleMechs).

[The forums respond... ] "But Insanity, Clan tech is BROKEN! TOO POWERFUL!! You are proposing the game be unbalanced! How will the IS compete?"

Solution: Clan vs. IS drops will be: 2 Lances (4+4) vs. 1 Star (5 'Mechs) and will have a maximum allowed weight of 63% of the IS Lances cumulative tonnage.

The Clans will always be outnumbered, but they will have more 'oomph' just as in the lore.

Discuss?

Uneven teams make uneven matches whichever way you spin it. Clans will be in, but they will not be unbalanced as you suggest.

Only one biscuit for you, and I think a mouse has been at it.

I've never seen PGI say that Clan's would be playable. The community has just always assumed they'd be playable.

While I imagine a day in which my new mech of choice is a delightful and salvaged (or w/e) clan medium, or a bushwacker, I also imagine that day will be involve IS mechs decked out in clan tech; salvaged, reverse engineered, whateva it's new shineys to grind out and buy.

I also want a RAC/5 at some point but I have no idea where those fit in any sort of timeline.

Clan DHS are going to be broken, just like IS DHS are, but at least we're going to be able to squeeze a couple more of them on our 'mechs. ER Lasers aren't as big a deal as they could be due to the small size of maps, broken heat sinks, and the general rush to brawling ranges. Clan LRM's are going to be the biggest upset to balance, half the weight, less crits, no minimum range.

I'm 90% certain we're going to be getting a Clan Founder program in a 3-4 months to give us founders versions of the first four Clan 'mechs.

Good idea as far as Clans vs. IS battles go, but doesn't cover the issue of a team using a mix of Clan and IS mechs - if that's not allowed IS units would cry foul, and if it is there's a need to balance this scenario.

They actually support the claims. Many times they reffered to thinking about how to do so and also to make sure they are actually playable.

If they are playable, go by the BT rules for clans. If I recall the advvanced tech meant IS got a weight and number advantage, would be silly not to do it like this

i realy hope they will implement weight leagues...
if the clans will come.. just give them for the mm 30-40% more weight ( or arround that ) and all will be fine.

since iam a claner... yeah throw stones at me.. i just like them ^_^ ... i can live with it if i would have to fight 4-5 vs 8

Even teams, pure tech, Clantech as powerful as in TT, make Omni'Mechs non customizable but give out each variant for free once the prime variant is bought (or mastered). And if anyone says "But customization is the whole idea of Omni'Mechs" I'll answer "You don't have the rank to customize your 'Mech".

In tabletop, the clans are always outnumbered by the IS.
And they still always win.

The tabletop values for clan tech do not work. They must be nerfed for balance.

What I'm looking forward to is Omni-slots

Having a mech with Hardpoints that aren't restricted to one specific weapon type.

I wouldn't have a problem with fighting 5-8 when they finally let me be a clanner, but I wouldn't want to see Clan Tech nerfed to pointlessness (ie just like IS tech) as that wouldn't increase the diversity on the battlefield. That being said, there's no reason why Clan tech has to be better in all respects. If a Clan ML did the same damage as the IS ML but had longer range, lower weight, and higher heat, I don't think it would be too unbalanced.

Also, I think the omni-hardpoints should be kept in, as that's one of the defining features of Clan 'mechs.

Finally, I would buy a Clan Founder's package (was too late for the original founder's), especially if it included 4 Clan 'mech chassis, but I would buy it if it included nothing but a Jade Falcon banner to hang in my 'mech. I just wanna be a Clanner.

isn't the complaint that clans are actually too weak on tabletop? I heard when they redid BC they were gonna make clans better.

on that topic though: YES. Keep clans separate from IS! it's the only way.

They've said several times we would be able to at least purchase clan mechs.

+1 to this

With either option, (just a Ghost Bear Banner for me though ^_^)

I just assumed, looking at the way they are throwing hero mechs into the game, that the clan mechs will be MC purchase only....
Free to play,. pay to win.... isn't that the goal?
