There's been a lot of talk about ECM lately, and whether or not it's balanced in the current game. I thought I'd throw this poll up to see how many people would like to see 3 different ECM devices in this game as there are in TT. (Guardian ECM, Angel ECM, Null Sig)
Each device could take on one of the functions of the current ECM, all 'mechs could be able to carry at least one of the devices, with the "ECM" 'mechs carrying the full suite.
Ecm Split Poll

Angel and null sig are different than the guardian, the angel is a direct experimental upgrade, and the null sig is a derived system.
Also neither the null sig or the angel are even available yet at the current timeline.

We shouldn't even have Angel ECM, until 3052 when the first experimental ones we're developed, during the Battle of Luthien. Also, Angel ECM has a ECCM counter mode, which is in the current implementation, and is a little OP, but can be balanced once the Bloodhound Active Probe is implemented in 3058. The TT has everything you need to counter this and counter that. There was a big war that destroyed all the technology, it pretty much sent their weapons and equipment back to the stone age. But I agree the ECM isn't correct to ERA, we should have the Guardian ECM, which is nothing like the Angel ECM.
Guardian ECM has 1 mode and thats it, disrupt. It only blocks radar, targeting, NARC, Artimes IV, C3 slave systems, and Beagle Active Probe. It doesn't block locking like Angel ECM does, but how do you lock on without being able to acquire a target? Instead you make it so missle mechs have to lock on by directly pointing at a mech in its line of sight. This would put the missle boats at risk of taking damage, but still make missle boats not so gimped vs ECM. As far as SSRM, it needs to have dummy firing like the TT rules does, so you can still fire at mechs at close range.

Actually, Guardian does have eccm, that is part of the ECCM rules, angel just counts as 2 ecm or ECCM.

If they removed the stacking and TAG locks wasn't slowed which makes no sense to me it would be a lot better.... when you get 4 enemy ECM and they are on voice chat then your dead regardless.

I hadn't realized that ANgel ECM doesn't come out for another two years... And we won't see Bloodhound for another 9
