I started this post in the general forum to see how responce to it would be. So far everyone likes the idea.
BAP is supposed to give greater scanning range, ECM reduces enemy scanning range. Very basic idea. ECM however affects all enemies and allies within the bubble broadcasted by the mech with ECM, BAP only affects the mech equipped on.
So with this info, what if BAP reduced ECMs effect on the mech that has BAP equipped. BAP's extra range is cancelled and ECMs scanning interupt is cancelled.
For the sake of just getting the info out i'm going to use random ranges for the examples.
Say normal radar scan range is 800m, BAP boosts that to say 1000m
ECM reduces enemy scan range to 400m of normal scan range.
If an enemy is running ecm and you have BAP, you can detect those shielded by ECM to 600m. BAP would also stop the enemy from jamming your scanners, ECM would stop the faster target info and missile lock of BAP.
Now some people would say that BAP would be OP then, but keep in mind, ECM is an AOE effect, BAP only affects the mech that has it equipped on. So in order to have this counter each mech would have to sacrifise critical space and tonnage, compared to ECM where only 1 mech needs it for their whole team.
How About Bap And Ecm Counter Eachother
