Willie i wasnt really having a go at the bulk of your statement, really i was commenting on the attitude of the solo player(via your comment) that has no regard for the rest of the team. Personally i like the Cap option and in my world i would kill 6-7 of the enemy then go for a cap, to me this would be the ideal situatin, but thats just me..

This was the method I'd like to take (and suggested when I noticed that the other team was down to 1 or 2 mechs) before the change in rewards. It is the best of both worlds as it maximized your income for the match. But if a teammate capped right out of the gate, it didn't bother me either as I still go a sizable reward out of it. Which makes me wonder why PGI decided to remove cap rewards when they overhauled the economy. They haven't said why they did it, and that leaves many players to badly uninformed speculation. The only thing the did tell us was that the economy was overhauled to make it easier and faster for new players to earn mechs and to stifle AFK/Suicide farming which put one team at a disadvantage. But capping wasn't part of either problem.

i feel caping should stay its a good pug tactic.
they have a strong line of defence and we are 2 mechs down.
if i'm in a light or fast medium, I'll go cap to disrupt their strong line of defence, as soon as
one of them turns up I'll leg it out of there,
but if no one turns up to defend their base, I'll cap it till ours, we pulled a win in the long run.
and a win is better than a loss.

All I know is that I earn more XP and Money even for losing in an Assault match over someone that gets a quick Cap win. I rather have the XP and Money. Sad that it is more profitable to Lose when you do a lot of damage and get kills over quick winning with a Cap.

It's because quick winning is no risk, so no reward.

Yeah but you can't stop someone on your team from capping. (Well... Suppose could shoot them but then you'd get minus XP and money) You can be winning the assault and some mech can break and cap causing the team to lose out. Now if there was a Cap reward that went to the whole team I'd understand but there isn't.

Then why not ask PGI to remedy the situation by first restoring the capture rewards. Then we can discuss options on how else to make capturing bases a more dynamic and rewarding challenge.

You yell at them in chat and if they don't listen shoot them but don't kill them, like say, legging.

If you do that, then you should be reported for griefing/attempted TK.

Oh great. Take their leg so they are forced to stay on the cap doing exactly what you were trying to get them to stop because now they can't move off it in time. :)

You don't HAVE to shoot it off, you know...

A few laser swipes usually sends the message.

If you have time enough to shoot your own teammate who is capping, what the hell are you doing there anyways?

This is fairly false.

The same people who think that are probably the first to exploit and cheat to win.

Go take a break, your posts are getting worse.

The main objective is to cap the base. Cbills are irrelevant.
If you kill them all (or most) on the way to the MAIN objective then thats great. But the main objective is to cap the enemy's base to win. Any moaning about how you didnt get enough cbills is invalid.

People are actually complaining about being capped?!?!

You know you could allways go back and defend your base, people moaning about wanting a fight, you know,if your base is being capped there is a good chance that an enemy mech is there to.....errr.....fight.

You misunderstand.

We don't like it when someone on *our* team caps. If the opponent does it, at least we can stop them.

Here we are, having fun playing MechWarrior (a name that would normally imply a rather strong focus on mech combat), and then, suddenly... everything stops. We all get kicked out of the game. We're put back into the mechlab, where we have to wait 10 seconds before we can launch again, which will put us back at a loading screen and then we can get started playing again. Hoping that, this time, some jerkwad doesn't kick us all out of a good game again.

I sure hope he enjoys running for a minute and then standing in a red square watching a gauge slowly empty itself, because doing that (as passionately, oh-so-intensely fun as that sounds... no really, my heart is beating faster just thinking about that sexy gauge, ohgod I think I'm getting aroused now) cheated everyone else out of a match.

The C-bill and XP loss side-effect, well... that's just adding insult to injury.

If they could make capping and killing equal that would be awesome. To me it is very satifiying to Cap the enemy, but I don’t do it because of the lack of Cbills and XP.
It was really cool to cap before, because you got the reward, but didn’t get “beat-up” and had to pay for repairs. Repair cost used to suck my money away. :)

I am assuming you are playing in a PUG match since if you were in an 8v8 premade, this shouldn't be a problem. If you are playing in an 8v8 premade and this is happening, then there will be no solution for you in these forums.

In a PUG match, you are essentially a lone wolf. Granted you might have a team of 4 with you or you might manage to team up with some players in the game, but the point is there is no true coordinated plan with real-time updates. So, you have a team member which is playing under the old rules and you win. You know what happens next?

You can miraculously LAUNCH into the next game! You didn't lose any C-Bills (since repair and rearm no longer exists) and you didn't lose any experience (unless you managed to team kill a person on your side). In fact, you MADE C-Bills and experience!

So, what are you crying about again?

If the rewards for capping were restored then it would make sense, and I would encourage it. But there are no rewards for it, so it doesn't make sense. If you notice, I mentioned that I don't like winning by cap either.

Victory is its own reward.

Assault has always been kinda dumb in practice the way PGI set it up. What they should do is have a base or dropship that you actually have to shoot and blow up to win the base cap. That way you can earn points for destruction of turrets or buildings or vehicles. Anything but just sit like a bump in a square by a BBQ. Just MHO.

Why cap to win? It's the tears. I do it for the copious amounts of delicious tears. :)
