Objectives could be revised to include this as a criteria

Or we could take the weapons off the mechs entirely and you could only win by capping.
Why do we all have to play your way?

It would be a very bad criteria because if one team derps early and lose half their force without knocking out any mechs or just one mech on the other side, they have no chance of recovering and winning a victory.

Killing the other team is also a primary objective. It's also the reason we actually load weapons on our mechs. I don't know about you but I thought the whole point of this game is to ride giant mechs and shoot other mechs. If I wanted to race and dodge other players I'd play Mario Kart.

Why do WE have play YOUR way? You don't seem to get this, we don't have an option for a no-cap game. If we did there wouldn't be a need for this thread. But since we don't have this option, we have to raise awareness of our thoughts on the matter, and that means making a thread.

As I said before. Assault mode is capture the flag with 'Mechs and that is how players will play the mode. So, don't go raging when other players play the mode for what it is instead of as you wish it to be (which appears to be TDM).

That is because the cappers have long accepted a total wipe out as a valid result of a match. They may be annoyed that the bonus for capping have been removed, but that isn't going to change the objectives in the game.

I like capping just for this reason, there is still a chance to win even if your team is loosing. As I said before, capping at this point is very cool

On a serious note, I would like to see the points locked for the first half of the match or maybe ten minutes.
I know it used to be a valid tactic to draw enemies away from the fight, or if you killed 7 and 1 ran away, but it's just not anymore. Everyone in the game loses out on potential rewards when one side wins a capture victory.
NO, given the chance I will always cap.
PGI should have never kowtow'd the minority by removing the cap bonus.

Base capping mechanics are there for players to figure out new tactics and coordination.
Rewards are something we are continuously adjusting and rebalancing as game mechanics become available:
So for all those deathmatchers who said that PGI removed the cap rewards because they didn't want teams to cap the bases or that the caps are only there to end the match instead of hunting down the last powered down Jenner just got served.

Not sure assault would work if we didn't have weapons, we could fight by trading witty comments I suppose .... maybe not yourself but there is always conquest for you to play
My suggestion was only to limit capping being an option at the start of assault until people had at least made an effort to kill the enemies. On the assumption there will always be a capping option it means it can't be done by both team running to the other cap points without firing a shot .... which still happens

So yeah, TDM would be good.
They're different modes that play out on the field differently, but they're still based around a wargame-like mentality, with objectives and such. The TDM criers (which is not all players who want this feature, just some) do not care about such things, they are here purely for the competition against other people. They want to test their mettle against other pilots and are much more likely to head into Solaris in future and not CW, to the point where they can't even see how other forms of play are remotely interesting. It's a bit of a singular focus.
RIght now the game modes are set up for players who are going towards CW, because only a fool would ignore mission objectives when it means you lose a major supply route or a factory planet. Many players currently always play for mission objectives so they don't get in the habit of TDMing alldayerryday, which habits could work against them when the real warring hits. Gladiator combat is fun but it doesn't win wars, and MWO is supposed to be a wargame as well as a combat game.
Yes, PGI needs to make some kind of no-objective game mode, they've dragged their heels on this since forever. No, it is not part of the ones we currently have. You TDM guys don't have to like it, but you have to understand it and cut the crying, it's unbecoming of the warriors you want to be. Call people names as much as you want, all you're doing is making sure less people support the inclusion of the game mode you so desperately desire. Try asking the company that makes the game to change it, instead of the players playing the game as intended.

Forgive me but I am a bit confused. The process went something like this:
1. You left your cap.
2. You kept looking for the enemy but couldn't find him.
3. You kept wandering around aimlessly because capping is unsporting.
4. The other team managed to get on your capture point unnoticed.
5. Because you were so far away from your capture point, the other team won.
Appears the game is working as intended. You ignored exactly one-half of the winning conditions so you should expect to lose. The fact the other team won (probably waiting around for you), is your own team's problem and not theirs.
You think it isn't fun? I would suggest you protect your capture point. Amazingly, if the enemy mechs had not been able to get around you, they would not have been able to capture your base and the fun you are craving would have been had.
I do not see a problem with this. You chose to lose and then want to cry about the lack of strategic/tactical planning you put into the Assault mode game you were playing.
