I will happily stand and fight, but I want to do it intelligently and if I can create an advantage with a run on the cap, well I guess I will just upset the little minded people.

Are you saying that if 7 members of the team feel they have an advantage in engaging the enemy and you think capping is the way to do it the other 7 are small minded? Really?

That is exactly what he said. Or are you implying he does not have a right to his opinion?

Darn it, there goes that logic thing again which people try to use but others just refuse. Don't you know the game is to be played how they want it to be played and anybody who dares play it differently is consequently not having fun right?

If it was all about having fun, then the anti-cappers wouldn't be complaining so much about being "cheated' out of C-bill rewards. *shrug*

Actually, that wasn't directed at the original reason for the thread post, but to the other 4+ pages where people are complaining that the cap mechanic should be completely removed because using it isn't having fun right.

However, I have also laid out elsewhere that capping at the beginning does have tactical/strategic value - the plan isn't to actually cap but to throw any plans the other team has completely awry. It was a more valid tactic to cap in the beginning and save on the repair and rearm back before this last patch but it still has its uses.

The entire thread has devolved into a thread about why a team should protect their cap as well as try and demolish the other team. It seems the little minded can't wrap their brain around the need for both and only want it their way - the total team death match.

I apologize for the confusion given what the thread started off as and what it has now become, however, my statement within its context is still satirically accurate.

There are 2 sides in a battle. Preventing the other team from getting C Bills or XP is part of the fight. Capping early achieves this.

The people that are crying would be happy with a 8 TO 7 win even if the other team got more C Bills due to more accurate component kills. They are effectively playing for a personal C Bill score, so, instead of posting on the forum, they may as well just buy someones account with more C Bills and save their tears.

Yes but the Cappers want their XP back. So since the Cappers are cheated out of their Reward, why should they let anyone have theirs?

Well if it is a death match they want fine how ever with some rules.

1. NO TEAMS 16 go in one comes out
2. only the winner gets any C-bills or xp
3. no timers it keeps going until only ONE mech is still alive and no way to leave the match until it is over

They want a Team Death Match same rules the winning team gets C-bills and exp the lossers get nothing oh and make it so if you lose in ether you lose the mech as well and have to get a new one.

Again, another who has missed the context, however, it is explained above. I'm sure you'll find it without me having to quote it for you.

This would come under Greifing, and if you player that gets killed reports it then your up the river looking for a paddle.

Personally, I'd like to see defence be the defence against cap attempts, instead of anything related to playground rules and name-calling. But the other idea, using friendly fire, is not only griefing (as intentional attempts to tk,) it would lead to the target defending himself and even more tk.

Just another illustration of the clash between game design and player culture, I think.

Actually, I like it when the other team caps. I often win in terms of XP and CBills. The other team capping doesn't bother me at all. If one on my team caps (it has happened in PUG matches), it hasn't bothered me either as I have a powerful "LAUNCH" button.

Willie i wasnt really having a go at the bulk of your statement, really i was commenting on the attitude of the solo player(via your comment) that has no regard for the rest of the team. Personally i like the Cap option and in my world i would kill 6-7 of the enemy then go for a cap, to me this would be the ideal situatin, but thats just me..

I think this whole capping nonsense would get resolved if they would just put back battle damage. (ie repair and reammo). Then I would cap like crazy just so I could save on those repairs LOL!
