Awesome that people sync dropped and still lost to pugs.

Happens very very rarely, but oh the revenge is oh so sweet when you see the scorecard at the end and opposing team is a wall of golds. But all dead.

As an aside, even if the team was a sync-dropped premade, tag colour has nothing to do with that. You can sync-drop any group regardless of how much they ponied into the game. A gold tag means a person has disposable income for gaming, that's pretty much it. I get really tired of seeing this, like the community needs to find more ways to fragment itself. Golds vs nongolds, premade vs pug, mission-oriented vs kill-oriented; this community does more fighting OFF the field than on.

I keep getting premades of 4 ECM atlases who run straight to the cap while giving snarky commentary in chat. Yay.

I usually don't drop on the weekends or in the evenings (GMT -5) because of my work schedule, so I was astonished to run into some pretty extreme trash-talking and vulgarity this evening. Now, to clarify, I certainly don't mind profanity when it is useful for emphasis, emotional stress, comedy, etc. This was just... different. It certainly wasn't in good fun, that's for sure... quite the opposite. And it was a whole team of supposed-sync-droppers doing it, at match beginning and after they were dead (yeah, a pug beat some sync-droppers who "weren't trying").

So... is this normal for US Primetime social interactions? It was very disappointing. I didn't run into this kind of behavior in SWTOR, and I assumed that would be pretty bad based on its poisonous forum population.

I'm at GMT+8 so I don't really play MWO during US primetime. I've barely encountered trash talking and any undesirable behaviour during most of the time I have played.

I've encountered only one sync-drop I'm sure of.
Our side had a group of commandos run under ECM cover to the enemy base and proceed to stand 5' outside it while the entire enemy team smashed the 4 of us left behind. The commandos also were quite rude in text chat.
This was back when capping was actually worth something, too.

As far as people who are actually bad mannered, this game is better than just about every other PvP online multiplayer game I've ever played.

I've played this game during all hours, both solo queuing pugs and 8-man premades. This community is remarkably civil for a competitive video game. It's extremely rare to run into a bad mannered player and it's usually nothing more than a snippy 1-liner at the beginner or end. If this bothers you enough to post, I don't know what to say because virtually every online game with an active community is 100 times worse.

Go play another team-based game like League of Legends for a week and report back here.

Mainly play GMT 19:00 to 23:00 and this type of trash talking etc seems to happen later on so around 22:00 to 23:00 before that in the day there seems to be little or no chat going on unless people know others on other team and do the normal - XXX is alpha :)

Im from Germany (GMT+1), I rarely see trashtalking and large amount of flung insults during PUG matches. The most insults, I got during the few 8vs8 Games I played, before ECM/Lagshield drove me away from these.
We had one team that identified us as German and imediatly asked if we where fascists. Afterwards they continued to hurl abuse our way... Sadly we lost against them (ECM + Plus camping with mass amounts of Gauss/PPC...)

I would have to agree but only as a more recent trend like the past couple of weeks since the last patch.

I have had three examples of this behavior from this past week alone.I probably missed more examples seeing how the chat fades out in 2.2 seconds.

1) Player on the enemy team complains that everyone else started the fight without him because he was making a sandwitch. When told by his team that he should eat OR fight he dropped an "N-bomb" insulting the other player.I asked him if he needed a hug then selected him as my target and took him out...I replied "HUGS!" in chat resulting him logging off. That to me was a double victory my team won and I sut up a...< explative deleted>

2) Enemy player took exception to our randomly generated PUG compostion that happen to include 4 light mechs. When it was pointed out to him that his team also had 4 light mechs he also dropped an "N-bomb".

3) I personaly had someone aggressivley state what he felt was my sexual preferances in quite colorful language after I took out his streakcat with an ECM Raven. It was a streakcat! Piloting that mech prevents you from having opinions on what is overpowered or what genders the enemy pilots prefer to spend "special" time with.

I will venture a guess that the cause is an influx of consumers that have little real intrests in maintaining a community or ties to the game's community.

I don't want to flame anyone but you should realize that the pre-existing community is pretty damn hostile, knee jerky and quick to tell people to leave if they don't like it. You should know this unless you've not been on the forums much since OB. Or heck even CB.

You probably could've reported them though. :(

Seriously, the community in this game is awesome compared to most games. Simply the fact that I'm usually the bad mannered one for complaining about ecm or lights or something currently frustrating, means this game has pretty damn good community.

Try playing almost any major game out there, best examples being heroes of newerth, league of legends, dota or any major fps titles :(

At least in mwo someone doesn't verbally abuse you for 30 minutes for one misclick. So thanks guys.

Who cares? We just need an ignore list so we are not bothered anymore by the few idiots out there.

I don't know if it's normal, but there does seem to be more of it during US primetime than during EU primetime, from just reading the forums. Most of the complaints about trash-talking, verbal abuse, general ***-hattery, and exploits seem to occur during US primetime.

Of course, that might just be due to the US game population being larger than the EU one, and the law of averages giving them more trash-talkers, abuse-spouters, exploiters, and general ***-hatters than the smaller EU player base.

Or, perhaps us pinko leftie commies are nicer than you capitalist pigs :(

I dunno. I have played 500+ pug games at various times of the day and overall I would have to say the general community is better than most games. Most rounds, the only communication is about the mission. Usually it is very quiet. There is occasionally a round with the random kid/braggart/troll but it has been rare for me. Go play a game like LoL, CS, CoD, or almost any other FPS/MOBA game for a week and then look back to MWO.

The forums, on the other hand, are as sad as any other.

It's not exactly rampant. Some smack talk is happens. Most of it is either some one who got *** spanked or some tryhard. Nearly all of that is tame as ****. eg>

"ffs stop capping the base noobs"
"FU stat padding ****** discoing before death!"
"Dongs"
"**** you mechlab didn't save"

Or is it stuff like this that chaps ones behind? (accurate translation)>

"squawwk! I'm such a ******."
"I'm a furry and I suck pony ****"

That would be Mr.DingDong, who is a player who likes to yell 'DingDong' every time he gets a kill. He used to pilot a Streakcat, he's now in a Chunker (SRMcat). And yes, he's just as annoying now, whether he's on your team or not.

Probably some french fellows. We are becoming exceedingly good at being rude online for no reason.
