Im a big fan of Mechwarriors, my first video game was Mechwarriors 2, but the only Mechwarriors games I have played are Mechwarriors 1, 2 and 4 mercenary. And I played 1 and 2 when I was like 5, so I dont know much of the story. All I know is the basic back ground where there the inner sphere consisting of clans, then the Jade Falcon show up and start invading and the Inner sphere is fighting them, but that's all I know. I dont know anything about the different houses or who there fighting or why, and houses seem to be important here so whats the whole deal is with them?

Also, is a house the same thing as a clan, because I here people say the Inner Sphere is consisting of clans and sometimes people say houses and im not sure if its the same thing or not.

I was thinking mercs, right now that's my choice. But if I was going to make a merc group I wouldn't join like a HUGE 100 people merc group, it would be like me and a small group of friends and people that I know.

Not quite, the Great Houses are the Inner Sphere factions, while the Clans are the invaders of the inner sphere, the Jade Falcons are one of the Clans.
I would look up the different Houses on sarna and pick the one you like, keep in mind the Clans are not yet here, so you can't play them (yet, we hope), and if none of them suit you, play lone wolf, or find a merc group to join.
