I understand that the colors of the lasers in the game are traditionally used to identify the type of laser being fired.

Red = small
green = medium
White / bluish = large / PPC??

Would it be an interesting idea as part of the "camo spec" tab, to allow players to change the colors of lasers attached to their mechs (not including the PPC)?

They could have the same color palette that they have for chassis (and the same unlocking premise for PC Gamer holders, I am biased admittedly in this regard owning colors and skin).

The thing I'm on the fence about is whether this is an MC purchase or just maybe a ton of cbills considering the intricate modifications to the lasers that need to be made (maybe starting at 10m/las). changes back to the normal colors would cost but a fraction (2-3m)?

Throwing it out there.

Haha just throw a colored lens on top of the laser!

In all seriousness, this sounds like a neat idea, though who knows if PGI would ever go for it. I like the idea of confusing your enemy with the color of your laser :( I imagine lots of people yelling 'hacker!' after being taken out by a couple red beams hit them

Cinco, you're a pretty worthless poster. Just trying to pad your post count? Seriously, stop posting unless you have something constructive to say.

The only problem I see with this is it would make it difficult to tell what type of laser you are being hit with if an ECM mech is disrupting your targeting system.

Otherwise, I don't really care what color the lasers are as long as they hit what they are supposed to and hurt whatever it is I'm shooting at....

Declined. Laser color and if they pulse or not indicates what kind of weapon is being fired. This is important tactical information and should not be changed so bronies can have rainbow dash lasers or whatever. Cosmetic upgrades stay OUT of gameplay.

Baseline standard hardpoints/mechs/skills and even weapon colours/sounds make for a balanced game.

If you dont want a balanced game and want to have your favourite build/mech attempting to dodge the nerfbat every content patch then keep suggesting things like this. Its just like the guy who wants different skill trees to be able to tailor his mech more to his playstyle.
