I will also point out that those invited form a pool, so not all of them will actually be in the beta. *shrugs*

For those trying to deduce who is/isnt in Beta, wow.

Let the Beta testers have their fun. Hopefully they will be able to find issues/problems with the game, identify them to the devs and make the game that much better.

i would bet the entire beta selection process is completely automated. all the data collected is fed into a database, and the dev select the variables they want, and the program produces the subjects that fit those criteria, and the invite is sent out.

any "political" or PR related invites (NGNG crew, notable or outstanding community members etc) come later when the game is more solid

That Guy is probably exactly correct. I doubt most of the selection is done by hand. For the first round at least. And if you find out about someone who is in the beta, chances are they won't be for very long.

Although if I do get an invite, I will shout "SHAZZAM!" at the top of my lungs, regardless of where I may be at the time.

If thats what it takes

Come to think of it.. some of us they might want in the Beta to shut us up.. :P

On the OTHER hand.. some of us tend to help keep the forum fresh.. so its probably a wash either way.

They should just go alphabetically and start with those who's forum user names start with the letter A. :P

Not sure why everyone is so bothered by this. If we get access to beta now, or later, we'll all be helping the game by getting in eventually. Makes no difference to me, I'm just happy that we've gotten to this point in the creation of the game and we can all help in making this universe the one we all love.

Yes, I'm one of those that don't post often, but read semi-often so will prob not get in on first go, but I'm ok with that :P

No, I'm not selling my table top BT stuff.... IT'S MINE!

For those that do, best of luck!

I doubt this method would work, part of the point of a beta, along with working the kinks out of gameplay mechanics and bug reporting, is getting word of mouth going - I've played plenty of betas, and never seen one with an NDA.

Usually NDAs are reserved for alpha testers...

That would be nice, but I doubt it.

Personally I reckon that they will probably pick a fair number of beta testers to test server load (I know how fun that is to do on small servers) but will probably/definitely pick them using their computer stats a baseline to test it against. To be fair, a large portion of them will probably be picked at random (from computer and location defined catagories). As much as I want to be in the early beta, I understand that they would be needing to prioritise certain testing to certain users (which probably wouldnt be my charming self, as there seems to be a lot of other above average gaming computers around).

Edit: And as far as stalking beta testers are concerned, just leave them alone. We've all waited a long time for this game, the rest of us can wait a little longer.

As Paul said, forum post count is about the most non-sense way of inviting users. Liking, or disliking someone is also just as stupid. Don't get that confused with people who are constantly getting in trouble on the forums with those that obeys the rules.

The Closed Beta invites in my opinion and I'm sure for the most part follow multiple reasons for selection:

1. System specifications being the most important. Your CBT needs to test a wide range of systems for compatibility issues, etc. So if you have a top end rig, you have just as much chance as those on the lower end, and maybe slightly less in my opinion. They know your rig will probably run the game flawlessly and that's great, but 50-90% of the community doesn't have a beast of a machine like you, and those below you in terms of system specs will out number you and therefor will be the source of most the profits generated. So they want these lower end machines just as much, because the less problems those people have, the higher chance at profit on the final product end and repeat players for future expansion, etc.

2. Locality, they need to address networking issues, languages, etc. So most of your CBT'ers will be North American. Let's just be honest, not saying there aren't many euro and asian players cause there are, you aren't under valued in this, you are just simply out numbered in my opinion. But my opinion means little to nothing, so take it fwiw.

3. Age, as your product target will have a range from youngest to oldest groups (don't personally know the specific target range for this game) but my best GUESS would be between the ages of 13 to 55 years old. Not to say older won't be selected, the ages on the higher end are a lower number (hey you're old and love BT, I get it, but you are the exception, not the norm. We love you too :P )

Just taking a totally uneducated best guess stab at how this "random" selection will be handled, hopefully nobody was offended lol

I just want to be told when I'm in.

I don't like the thought of signing up for beta to not make it. That makes no sense, but the devs and team have not said that is what is going to happen. Patience.

If I have to wait until July, I will be sad. But it will be short lived. I go to Vegas on July 9th and I'll burn through 4k or win big. Regardless I will have a smile on my face and the stripper pole will be worked and the single moms of the world will be paid. I have some stimulus for the economy baby, woot!!!!

I've known several testers in WoWP and EoN alpha where the almighty boothammer was placed upon their account. Case in point I remember someone on WoWP named MadcatMKII getting banned for breaking the NDA with either a video or a plethora of screenies.

Post counts mean nothing. Most people with huge post counts only post fiiller in a desperate attempt to get noticed. I look for quality and humour over numbers any day of the week. I'd rather read one good post from a lurker than a 1000 posts of spammy fluff anytime.

Guys, there is an easy way to tell if they are going to be invited to the beta.

The answer lies with nubnub and bunbun.

Friend of nubnub? In the beta!
Friend of bunbun? In the beta earlier.

nubnub has no interest in me, so I'll be sitting on the sidelines picking at scraps. :D

Thus if we see any of these poster's posts per day drop by a significant amount, it would obviously mean that they have been invited into the beta.

Like nothing could happen to us. Getting seriously sick, loosing internet for some long time, etc.

I don' understand the hate towards us. Posted Image

As Paul said, we've got the same chance to be one of those who just simply stay on the forums and make lists of people to hate. :D

I'm completely with you on this. You can post as much as you want just so ur name gets out there but in the end it doesn't add to your chances. Waxx can we make Spammy fluff into a Noun? those damn "Spammy fluffs"!I think Inouye-san would approve.
