i hate the lag shield you hit nothing while visual seein hits on the target.
tryed to hit a stalker last night i hit nothing........
the guys ping whas way over 350, and i have seen more players with heavy and assault mechs
with such high pings.
can there be no system in the game that automaticly kicks people with a ping higher tan 200
or something.

i play Arma 2 a lot and most servers have such a system and it helps the game flow a lot.
of course its not perfect but at least you deal with the people who create a lag shield
ón purpose.

Lag is rediculous. It needs to be fixed ASAP. Lag shooting is a workaround...and a bad one at that.

Ehm... maybe that'll sound stupid but... since the information where someone currently is is stored on the server and hitreg is also serverside- wouldn't the guy with the lower ping have some kind of advantage?

if I recall the server compares the two clients server side, so if Client 1 says it shot at X time at Y location and Client 2 says it was at Y location at X time it registers a hit.

The problem is that the lag causes Client 1 to shoot at X time at Y location while Client 2 is telling the server it was at B location at X time, causing a no hit.

I had the same idea, ping over 200 should be kicked, but in this case we also need autobalancing system, otherwise it will be unfair.

#whiterabbit
ok than why are people downloading big files or running livestream movies on when they are play when they know that that will create lag
íf low ping is better.

From what I read in the dev blog the netcode is being tweaked. Hopefully one day soon lag shields will be a thing of the past, hopefully but doubtful.

I haven't had to lag shoot in any game since 2003, why should I go have to relearn something that most games managed to find a way around in the last decade?

may be pgi should invest in a few servers around the world to help fight the lag problem.
instead of creating usseles (for now) stuff in the cockpit.
its a open beta game FGS lets make the game beter first befor we make stuff that dos not help the game.

PGI/IGP hasn't fixed their game yet. Therefore, if you don't lag shoot, you won't hit anything in this game.

Your call.

The appropriate analogy would be 'learn to swim'. It's something you can do to avoid the problem you're having and doesn't involve you whining about something that none of us (except the developers) have any control over.

We're all dealing with the same problem. I'm just trying to point out a way to deal with it until the developers get around to fixing it for everyone.

honestly think its cruel to kick people out. Other games handle lag well like WoT's or Warthunder. Its the netcode for MWO is the issue. The devs said that themselves and if you look on the job listing for there site you can see they want a netcoder(unsure if thats changed now, was up a week or so ago). Also unfair thats there only one server and it happens to be AMERICA and the rest of the world has to huddle around it, unless your happy to invest lots of money spreading servers for MWO so you can enjoy your lag free game? but it looks like I'll be staying with my 300-400 proud Australian ping.

So you want to get rid of 3/4 of the population because we have poor ping?

Seriously?...here's some tissue for you guys....

...PGI has pretty clearly acknowledged the problem, explained what they're doing about it and why its taking time, also as part of that explanation, they explained why knock-downs are on a hiatus....

...cry all you want, but it won't make it get fixed any faster.

the way the game is designed cant kick the low ping person without screwing their whole team, once they fix the netcode it shouldnt be as much of an issue.

on that not i personally will probally start missing more when they do to the delight of many ravens cicadas and commandos

I've seen folk coming on with 900+ and no idea how they even get close to hitting some of the mechs in the 30's & 40s.

You also can't penalise someone playing just because they live further away, PGI need to look at how other twitch games deal with this issue. This can't be the only game that runs purely on US based servers that needs to deal with lag.

No kicking people over 200 ping, I could never play, I live in AUSTRALIA its like 220-250ms just to get to the US, plus the 60-80ms to get to the server.

Plus my internet is congested at times give me 800ms+ of ping, make s the game unplayable.

hopefully by release they will have an EU and Asia/Oceanic server
