To the MWO developers and beta staff,

I recently downloaded your System Profiler and submitted its information to my beta profile, but I have a question/concern. Specifically, is there any way to clarify a few things to you that are otherwise misleading if you see only the numbers? For example, that my currently listed free hard drive space is temporary and I really have "I'll free up as much as you need" available? Or that I'm not actually running a multi-monitor display despite it reporting one, and I'm willing to change my display resolution as needed for the test?

Also, how should I best denote my previous beta testing experience? I've worked on similar betas before, and am very familiar with the duties involved (file useful bug reports, help reproduce it if needed; do not post gameplay footage to the public, don't storm out in a hissy-fit because you encounter a problem, etc.). I wrote my qualifications/beta history down in a section accompanying my system specs, but it seems the form only saved the System data.

Please let me know what I can do to clarify both the system information and testing experience, and thank you for your time!

Bug Report: MechWarrior Online System Profiler

I just uploaded my system specs.
Harddrive space calculation is wrong. It only looks at drive C and does not include other partitions and harddrives. I have 4 250GB harddrives and it only recognizes my boot partition with windows on it.

I think it wouldn't be a problem when you use different display resolutions as long as you have the minimal requirements (which I think you'll have with a decent computer) since it is a good thing for a beta test to have a lot of different variations to find out which one isn't working.

cant you just edit your specs to represent what you already know?

not that its bad to tell the devs if you thinks its wrong... just sayin

Just so you know, sys specs is just one of many criteria for selecting beta players. If a few numbers are off, it's not a big deal. The #1 criteria is if you can install and run the game. We will be checking all levels of PC specs and the more straightforward responses we get, the better we can tune the game.

So don't fret! S'all goooood

Edit: Paul: So noted; this was mostly just wanting to be sure I could denote "My system specs are flexible, and I appreciate that a beta test is not a demo; I'm expected to do beta-related work to help improve the game." Looks like everything is cleared up though, so thank you!

(Original post redacted)

In some cases the raw number, or any single number, doesn't tell them what they ought to know. "20 gigabytes free" is useful, but "20 gigs right now, but I can free up any amount you need, just let me know" is more useful. Likewise, "I run this resolution, but am willing to use any other resolution to help test that" is helpful.

Plus the form seemed to just ignore my clarifying notes; they weren't saved (but my listed specs were). Hence wanting to get their opinion on how best to take care of this.

Right, and it doesn't allow me to post that I have two cores disabled (kinda does, as my CPU lists as a quad core but it only says two virtual CPUs) to reduce heat on my laptop, (it runs fine as a quad core in everything except for Civ IV... for whatever reason I get huge temp spikes in that game. No other game does that.) and for some reason is only showing half the RAM available on my system (despite CPU-Z showing clearly that I have 4GB.)

There's also no input for my will-have-in-July PC specs.

Issue with RAM appears to have been BIOS related, a RAM and CMOS reseat fixed that. And I reenabled my CPU cores so yeah.

And one can always put their more complete specs in their profile and point the devs to that. See my profile for an example.

And Paul,

That "Click Here for a BETA Announcement" tag... needs updating.

Just sayin'.

Trying to be helpful.

No need to check my system specs, really.

The system profiler had issues grabbing my video card information... did anyone else have issues with it? Any advice on sorting it out? I have the latest drivers installed.

I had to re-do my system information a few times since after re-installing windows a few things that were supposed to be saved changed (active video card, drive space, CPU speed, etc.) Nothing like looking at your system information and seeing 1.5GHz used of a 3.3GHz CPU :P

does still having my Logitech Wingman Forcefeedback joystick from the time I played Mechwarrior 3 increase my chances of getting an invite ? :P

edit: Without the installation CD, the forcefeedback doesn't work and makes the joystick quite inaccurate to use ;) I might buy a new one without FFB

There have been MANY people asking this. I think the forums have a search function (haven't tried it) but I've never heard of this "Mac version" of a video game as you say since Marathon, so I wouldn't expect one.

just a thought here, but i assume you'd be running a CPU with a variable core speed (say, for example, any intel from Core2Duo till now) which slows down your CPU when its not heavily used (and in the case of Intel's Turbo mode, turns back on CPU cores)
while should you load up the CPU, it'll rev back upto full speed (a simple benchmarking program will do the trick, Prime95 works, as does many others - try running that in the background when you run system analyzer) just be aware that turbo boost may disable some cores on the CPU to allow it to get that higher clock frequency...

No. Cryengine 3 doesn't support it.

Because anyone with a iPhone or Pad or iMac or iUseless piece of garbage annoy me.. and this is the ONE time MS has an App, Game, etc.. that they want and can't have and it makes me happy inside..

Yes proud to admit I am a MS fanboy.. had a 8088, built my first 386 to play Quake on, owned a iPaq (HP PocketPC by MS), a number of smart phone (before the term was used) that ran Windows Mobile, and now have a Dell Venue Pro (WindowsPhone)..

MS innovates, Apple copies tweaks it to look better and acts like they invented it.. so.. yea. When I get a chance to tweak a Apple fanboy.. I do.

Juvenille.. ? Probably.. but no more so that Steve Jobs :P (was)

BTW.. love the fact that even Wozniak likes WindowsPhone over iOS
