Nope and why would there be..?
Better question: Why shouldn't there be? Obviously since CryEngine 3 don't support them, it can't happen, and the only solution would be for them to switch OS. But if there are folks that use Linux and want to play MWO, should we discriminate just because they're not on Windows?

Just to note, CryEngine seems to support both Android and iOS, but I doubt that means anything for Linux users.

I wasn't able to get the sys checker to work, so I just manually listed my specs. Assumed that's what the box was there for.

So I took the time to install .NET frame. Profiler works now.

True.. and probably wouldnt hurt them to support Lunix (since CryEngine3 does I believe)

On a side note.. I find it funny that even Siri (The annoying overhyped voice of iPhone) thinks WindowsPhone is better :P

No. Cryengine 3 doesn't support it.

Someone in the open source community must be working on it. Someone always is working on porting over software to the Linux/UNIX community.

Yes proud to admit I am a MS fanboy.. had a 8088, built my first 386 to play Quake on, owned a iPaq (HP PocketPC by MS), a number of smart phone (before the term was used) that ran Windows Mobile, and now have a Dell Venue Pro (WindowsPhone)..

MS innovates, Apple copies tweaks it to look better and acts like they invented it.. so.. yea. When I get a chance to tweak a Apple fanboy.. I do.

Juvenille.. ? Probably.. but no more so that Steve Jobs ;) (was)

BTW.. love the fact that even Wozniak likes WindowsPhone over iOS

http://www.tomsguide...news-15029.html

As far as why I'm asking is because the Devs have to show some love to the Linux/Unix community, and in extension the open source code community. At one time or another they probably had to work with PERL or other open source software and are using MySQL instead of MS SQL for their dBs. Hell probably this website is running off Apace Tomcat Web servers at this time as I can't imagine why they would us MS IIS.

As far as support for Mac, well why not? The OSX Kernel is based off of FreeBSD/UNIX kernels. Ironically MS have been using Linux kernels since Windows Vista and beyond. So the question I asked still needs to be answered by the Devs.

Well, if these guys are like pretty much any other game company
they are in it foremost for the cash(not to say they dont care alot about MW)
, more butts in the seats logged in the more cash. On that note though
linux is the desktop ******* child and doesnt get the love it deserves.
Alot are afraid of the dark and for the average desktop user the learning cliff on
it is way steep.

Just so you know, sys specs is just one of many criteria for selecting beta players. If a few numbers are off, it's not a big deal. The #1 criteria is if you can install and run the game. We will be checking all levels of PC specs and the more straightforward responses we get, the better we can tune the game.

So don't fret! S'all goooood

I hope ur not looking at disk space... could free up 50gigs easy.

Anyone heard of Ubuntu or Linux Mint? Those are easy Linux distros to learn from.

Except to make it work on Linux they would have to rewrite the entire rendering engine, and considering Cryengine 3 is a pretty advanced engine, that might cost quite a bit.

Im sure it would be, but risk vs reward I guess. No doubt the numbers have been run on it already
by some bean counter.

Spend money to make game for Windows (DX11) or spend much more money to get an extra 20%? a fair amount of cash unless you're selling a monster product, not really sure about Eve specifically...always found it boring. CoD took 3-4 years and didn't sound like it worked out all that well. Still last I had heard Mac market share was around 6% while Linux was in the 20% or better area. I even have a Mac sitting around but all my other machine cost so much less and can do so much more that I only use it on the road.

Considering Linux has programs to help run Windows programs they sort of seem covered and I haven't met many Mac users even aware video games can be played on computers if they realize they exist in the first place or don't play Minecaft 24/7. So spend the time and money on another 6% of which only maybe half care so maybe 3-5% at best? Hard to make money back on that investment.

Which isn't to say money couldn't be made but most developers simply aren't interested. They target the 360 and the PS3 because those make enough money. I hardly think OSX would give as good a return as a PS3. Though I think CryEngine 3 can run on iOS and being F2P some of the normal rules don't apply so who knows. You could in theory get your wish but the way the engines appear to be evolving OSX isn't on any developers radar as a target platform, just iOS. The Steve hated video games anyway ;)

Ok lets take eve for an example, they didnt get a linux or mac client iirc until the 4th year Let say eve has a
population of subs of 50K ( I know its more 40k ppl there on an average night)
10k x 15$ = 750k a month minimum 9 mil a year, sounds like good cash to me:)

EVE online has about 350,000 subscribers to 500,000.

Apparently the system profiler got my information wrong. its saying i have 3Gb of RAM when i have 4, and it's saying that my dual core processor is running at 750Mhz when its really running at 3.00Ghz.... could i get some assistance? because a processor that slow could not run MWO, and I would like to at least be considered for the beta..

P.S. Nevermind, just had to re-gather the data from the profiler.
