I really hope something is coming soon about the high ping and lag. I find it really hard to hit or kill anyone who has ping above 200.
I was in a match tonight and had one guy stuttering around that I could not target. Check out this ping----

More like a bad router somewhere between the user and the server. I read satellite internet adds 250 ms per trip. I was looking at a system that sent data down via satellite but uploaded via phone line since it's mostly just mouse clicks. They claimed a 250 ms delay. A co-worker has a system that uses the satellite up and down and he says his ping is about 600 ms.

A teenager could send the data via text in 3000 ms....

Maybe Dialup to will give you numbers like that

run netflix and a torrent service in the background while you play and you can shoot your ping up several hundred

Good point. I was in a match last night with a guy who figured out syncing his Ipod was periodically making him lag.

Careful i got a 24 hour ban for saying the same thing in closed beta, might want to edit that out. Apparantly talking about a "exploit" even one a 3 year old could figure out is not allowed.

I dont do it, I dont even have netflix.

Hell I dont even log into this game anymore with PGIs mismanagement of it.

I just come onto the forums hoping to convince the devs to fix things, figuring I should get my moneys say at them.

If they dont like these kind of exploits being around they need to fix their netcode, not ban the folk who point it out.

I appreciate the warning though ^.^

mechs only hop around on my screen if *my* ISP / home network is under strain. I've got no problem tracking and shooting people with pings from 500-1000.

A person with a laggy connection shouldnt affect your ability to shoot them anyway unless the games coded horribly. The only effect having a 5k ping should do is slow down the rate at which you send stuff to the server, and since it acknowledges everything afaik, all it would result for other people is see you change direction/speed infrequently.

Which is exactly what happen now: someone with a 60ms of ping will miss someone with a 300+ms of ping if the cross hair is on the target. And the faster the target, the worse it is. Which is why light mechs have the "lagshield".

I just ran another match and had a high pinger (1700+) and I blasted him with 2 gauss shots and dual LL, twice and seen them hit. However, it did no damage or at least thats what his info showed. It didn't take him long to close in on me and take me out.

From time to time, for no apparent reason I will go from my normally stable sub 100 ping to over 1000. It'll act up for a minute or two then return to normal. It happens maybe once in 30-40 matches.

I've seen Apple iTunes/Quicktime update do this to me and freeze up my game.....

Why on earth it could do this to a I7 quad core with 8 gigs of Ram I dont know.
