So with all this hating on of premades, and as someone who plays both Premade and PUG, I figured I'd post my results tonight as I play in PUG matches.

Mode: any
Mech: CTF-3D (2x LB10x, 4x ML, 4x JJ, XL300)
EXP tree: working through elite, bought Speed Tweak after match #10.

Updated at the end of each match, though for some reason my computer won't let me screenshot MWO.

Oh, and I have no modules, none at all.

[Clarification] This is intended as clarification as to the real reasons why PUGs lose matches, and how often rolls are simply the result of a more coordinated PUG team.

Current records: (First number=my team's kills, second number=enemy kills)
8-2 Assault Victory
8-1 Conquest Victory
6-4 Conquest Loss (Loss to cap even!)
0-8 Assault Loss (Cave rush)
2-8 Assault Loss (Walked into defense piecemeal)
8-0 Conquest Victory (all power to the mecha-blob)
4-7 Conquest Loss (Good fight)
8-4 Assault Victory (Great coordination from my team, good fight/good sportsmanship all around)
1-7 Assault Loss (Down 1 player from Disconnect, vs self-identified Clan Wolverine)
8-2 Conquest Victory (Team stuck together, enemy split up)
7-3 Conquest Victory (Enemy had a DC, went solo vs enemy LRM, so no idea how team was doing)
8-1 Conquest Victory (Team followed basic plan I supplied, enemy split up, enemy did get over 600 resources before dying)
3-2 Assault Victory (Cap win. Team split into 2. 4 went via North city to enemy base then swung into enemy rear. 4 remained on cap and defended.)
3-8 Assault Defeat (Vs Dropship 7, half the team incl. myself was distracted chasing the squirrel)
7-2 Assault Victory (Enemy team down 1 man, plus 2 possible suicide farmers)

9 Wins, 6 losses
81 friendly kills, 57 enemy kills

Will resume... Eventually

Link to Cato Phoenix keeping track of his matches in a Hunchback.

normally i wouldn't have a problem with the XL engine... if it was on a longer range mech...

Match 1: river city, 8v7 (we had 8), lots of team chatter about strategy, we had dropship base
Overheated myself and got killed by an Awesome after hammering a bit on him and another Cataphract.

Damage done: 237
Assists: 3
Kills: 0
XP: 459

Victory (8-2)

You know this is the worst for new players, right? That a vet can get kills whoever is in the opposing team is hardly surprising.

so far we're at terrible damage and no kills, this is hardly the worst.

Eagerly awaiting more results, try to overheat less :)

Match 2: Forest snow conquest mode
Headed water side first

579 dmg
926 xp
3 kills
3 assists
8-1 Victory

Notes: not much communication, other than the LRM guy asking us to hold targets.
We hammered the other team pretty badly, nobody even got to 200 conquest points.

Match 3: Frozen City Night, Conquest
Started H4 base went K->E
close match
460ish to 750 cap points

765 dmg
3 kills
0 assists
558 xp
6-4 Loss

They had remaining a Streak Commando and a YLW w/ gauss left, and were enough faster than the remaining members of the team that they won on cap.

Lived through the match, though almost cored through front-center, and with red rear armor.

Hey OP I wonder if you can make a similar experiment with a medium/light mech.

Prepping those excuses as to why premades are bad already?

Surprisingly, you yourself have already pointed out the most important factor in who wins and loses: player skill.

Match 4: Frozen City Night Assault
started H4 base
Tunnel rush by enemy

We got smashed 0-8 and almost capped.

325 dmg
0 kills
0 assists
130 xp (top of team, one other got 130, rest 100)

Finally my team got smashed, took 4 matches, 2 of which we smashed the other team in.

Hunchbacks were the first mechs I mastered after Open Beta.
I could also take my Founder's Jenner out I suppose.

Honestly though, I'm playing the Cataphract because it's not one of the power builds, and I want to work on my Elite progression with it.

Must have been against a premade. Pugs dont win 8-0 blowouts and never ever tunnel rush....

Can you add the number of founders tags per team? Would be interesting to see if your experiences are similar to mine.

Well at least you aren't headshotting my Atlas from across the map with less than a minute off the timer....man that was annoying lol.

OMA what do you feel your optimal shooting range is on the LB10s? I honestly hate the gun but you're posting respectable numbers and kills.

I generally think of weapons in zones

zone 1 you can fire and hit but its not effectve, shots not worth taking, may do so for supression or annoyance purposes (far out to max range/minimal damage)

zone 2 past stated optimal range, damage becomes worthwhile but still isn't optimal, particularly like to fire in this area if I brought more ammo than necesarry for an average engagement

zone 3 weapons stated optimal

I ask because the LB10 has quite a long stated optimal range but I rarely found them effective at more than 120m or so.

I suppose the short question here is at what range do you start firing your LB10s? Do you fire them first and then the MLAS or vice versa or what?

Match 5: Forest Colony Snow Assault
We started at D2 base

Enemy defended, and the team walked into it piecemeal.
Died walking into the obvious trap next to an atlas.

161 dmg
0 kills
2 assists
118 XP (nobody finished off the Stalker I took down to Red internals)
Loss 8-2

Screenshots would be useful to corelate founders status to apparent skill level, but would also be used to imply some sort of founders = premades sentiment even without an actual evidence to support it.

I told you, that was pure luck. Not that I'm not ridiculously happy about it :)

I generally start shooting my LB10s at around 300m, they're relatively low heat and the spread's been greatly improved. I also carry 75 rounds of ammo.
Optimal range is probably around 100-200m, it would reach further in but then you start to get into convergence issues on the arm-mounted one and I have them both on the same mouse button.

[edit] Taking 5 to get a drink, and check how close dinner is.
