Call it all you like, the fact is, they weren't clan members at the time.
Many of them weren't clan members for a long time after posting, and certainly not at the time when they were recommending each other.


Or do you somehow think it's in any way strange that people that have found they play well together have gravitated towards the same clan?

The only way it will ever be solved is when the developers introduce a pre-arranged match mode -- or duel mode.

Your complaint is still disingenuous. I do not know many of the players posted in here. They may be the best players in the world, but I am unable to offer comment on them. The best players I have seen have been those I've had the opportunity to watch on a regular basis, which generally means people in my own gaming group. There is no "shenanigans" in only offering comment on what you have been able to observe.
