You could try adding to your user.cfg

r_colorgrading = 0

No dice.

I also vote for taking off the brown-colored glasses.

Wow what a difference! I hope PGI could implement a new filter like this...

There really is a depressing lack of contrast and colour in MW:O. The level of detail is amazing, but it doesn't really "pop" without something to contrast with.

edit: Although, letting people colour their own mechs is a step in the right direction IMO, I just wish people would stop using black and red in an attempt to look cool. It does look cool, but it loses it's value when I see a minimum of 3 mechs on every team with the same damn colours.

That's why I use purple and orange :>

My guess is those are the PC Gamer colors !

I prefer dirt that looks like dirt and dead grass that looks like dead grass over "OH MY GOD I'M ON ACID" :)

Though I have seen an interesting argument for the color blind group, an option to remove or change the filters would be nice. Just don't force it on everyone.

I want more color/contrast instead of everything being varying shades of brown.

/signed. Please, PGI, liven it up a little! Bright PPC, gauss, and laser effects just look out of place on dull, washed-out backgrounds.

Here are some screenshots i took with sharpen and overdone vibrance and r_colorgrading = 0. You can make it look absolutely different with other settings but its worth it just for the sharpening filter. I wont run the game with these settings just the sharpening, posting to encourage people to try it

Didnt have the time to get any good ingame shots yet, may update post once a friend comes online to "pose"...

filters/nofilters

Spoiler

Crosspost from http://mwomercs.com/...or/page__st__60 (post #80) because i found your post on reddit, shots done using SweetFX.

Yes this game needs to look more like Diablo 3. With rainbows.

I think they went for "dark/gloomy/wasteland" kinda of future.
But it doesn't look very good at all.

Dark and gloomy was cool, when we were all 15 and playing Mech 2'...

There was a 'MWO is the Brownest Game' thread during CB. It was decided that the MWO devs are in the washed out brown = realism camp.

yea, i remember that thread, too, i think there have been some amazing pictures in it aswell.

Actually, no, but some color would be great for the game, while it could be good for atmosphere here and there to have maps with colorfilters on it, for exampleour loved Heat Valley, i think it would also be cool to have some maps with "cleaner" air arround us, so we don't see each other through clouds of yellow and brown dust ALL DAY.

Oh and btw, if there was a rainy day (on the map) what would speak against a rainbow in the background of a map? :D

Bumped with some PS altered shots to see what the game would look like with less uniform and muddy colors. Much improved, in my opinion, but I'd like to hear your thoughts as well!

Is this the same game? Certainly looks sexier, more interesting, more fun.

MWO has excellent detail, models, effects and graphics in general. However, I've noticed that maps tend to wash our all colors into a more or less monochrome palette - not only that, but the overriding colors tend to be brown, yellow, or white, which lend to a rather uninteresting look to the game. This is especially pronounced when you compare MWO to, say, MW:LL, as shown in this link:

http://youtu.be/J7w88yQVlVY?t=3m48s

My suggestion would be to lessen this unifying color filter, and allow more diverse color schemes in. The game would not only look more exciting, but much more natural as well.

I'd love to hear your thoughts on this. Keep up the good work PGI!

Signed. Without filters the game looks much better.

It is my pain since I began to play. They took an engine, which can do great graphics, they make great effects, details with it, and then they vomit some brown/yellow/grey (depends on map) filter on it.
I bet it's defended as "artistic concept".
It's still ugly.
I'd love to see the game as on the OP's right side pictures.
