Your Best Mechs So Far?

My next is my Atlas-D with AC/20, LRM/10, SRM/4, and 4x MLas with STD 335 engine and DHS. It works out pretty well, the LRMs tend to soften targets as I close in, and I close in a little bit faster thanks to the more powerful engine.
I have an Atlas D-DC, but I just can't get the right config for it. Tried running an XL 320 engine, LRM/10, 2x LRM/5, Gauss Rifle, AC/2, and two large lasers, but it didn't work out for obvious reasons. Even trying to keep it long range, the Gauss seems to explode when someone so much as looks at it, even when the armor hasn't been breached on front or back.
Also have an Awesome 9M. It's a joke mech/harasser.

One of my first and favorite mechs is my Raven 3L, which I've somewwhat adjusted now with ECM, 3x Med. Lasers, 2x SRM6, XL220 engine, 11 DHS, 208 armor and lots of SRM ammo. It really gets the job done.
And on the far end of the spectrum is my Awesome 8R, with 4x SRM6+Artemis, and 2x Large Lasers. It has a STD 290 engine, AMS, 15 DHS, and maxed out armor at 494. Great fun for ruining the other teams offensives.

I remember back in august it was a 2xsrm6 4sML Cat with JJ's, then a trollmando, then an AC20 cat, then a Gauss/PPC dragon, then a streak cat (before people raged over them /hipster), then a jenner, then a commando again, then back to an ac20 cat, then a triple ssrm ac10 centurion, then a cataphract sniper... then a different cataphract... and a different cataphract...
...so yeah lets see where the first January Patch takes me.
Yes, I remember a time where my CN-9A was my favorite mech
Gauss Cannon + 3 SSRM + 2 smal las
Somehow since open beta I do not like the Cent anymore and seem to be unable to get a good performance with it.

Speaking about default loadout: I think the best default mech is the CAT-C1 (just add some more LRM ammo) I still play it a lot. I also like my alternative loadout with 3 large laser 2 SSRM.

That doesn't add up. No room for 10 DHS. Can you please share further? I've been toying endlessly trying to optimize my beloved 4G. Yours looks promising, but it's not working.

ER PPC
2 med lasers
srm6 w/ 2 tons ammo
stock engine, dhs, as much FF armor as you can fit. even with the er ppc its pretty good on heat, just not much of a brawler. plink away with the ppc, then when the other team is softened up move in closer and mop up with lasers and srms, even regular ppc fire...i have overheated many atlas's thinking they could just walk up and obliterate me....
i also tend to have fun in my Yen Lo. Or at least i tend to stay alive a long time. havent changed it around much either. FF armor, stock engine with speed tweak does 87 km/h. only think i ever do is swap back from guass and ac20 now and then. 4 tons of ammo at all times.

as much as i have little to no respect for people who say "i'm so good" and yet some of these are the rides they have i'd never want to see them nerfed or banned or what ever. you just have to understand you're playing the easier mechs and yes you're very much alowed to before you call me a kill joy n*zi. i like the easy modes too and enjoy overpowering poor people but like some good people have mentioned get off the gravy train and challenge yourself now and then with slower more rounded out builds or even stock material. have fun but earn some respect along the way.
btw best mechs have been 5medlsr 2 pulse laser aws 8q with 290 std engine and 8r splater awesome as mentioned by rift. used to be okay with 4-5lrg las or 3 erppc combo's but they're not as relable as the first two examples. they're my easy mode... and i still do poor with them XD

There's just something about centurions. I don't know what it is, but I tend to do much better in them than people seem to expect from this often-maligned mech. And the CN9-A in particular can be a fearsome force with its versatile hardpoint layout. I've amassed many a tale of unlikely victories and glorious defeats in this ride.
Fearless started out almost stock back when I joined just after open beta hit - 200 standard, 2 medium lasers, AC-10, etc - I just went to endo steel (and DHS soon after), upgraded the armor and ammo, and swapped her LRM-10 for a trio of streak launchers since I'd gotten quite tired of being killed by light mechs while piloting the catapult C1 that was the trial heavy at the time. This is the build I was riding when my poor battered centurion came out on top over an Awesome, Atlas, and Hunchback for my first 'amazing come from behind win' experience in this game. Many a Jenner felt the wrath of my streaks, and many were the unwary heavier mechs who received nice ac10-shell shaped holes in their engines in payment for underestimating my ride.
Time passed, and while piloting the other variants to master the chassis I became aware of just how fun a fast centurion was. I wasn't fond of how fragile the XL engine made me, though, so I sought a way to speed up my main ride without resorting to one. I ended up reworking my build just a little bit - dropping the autocannon down to an ultra ac-5 and fiddling with the armor a bit to upgrade to a standard 225, since the devs had just removed the annoying unjam mechanic.
It was glorious for a few days, and then the uac5 felt the nerfbat. The build was still good, and the increased speed was just as much fun as it had been on the CN9-D, but I thought she needed something more - more speed, different weapons, something - I just couldn't decide exactly what. And then ECM hit and the entire point of the streak battery went away (as their intended targets were all now invulnerable), and she sat vacant for a couple of weeks as I tried to decide how to recover.
Ultimately, it was my experience with my A1 catapult that decided me. Fearless could mount three missile weapons, and streaks were far from the most destructive weapons that I could fit there. I had to break from the idea that her right arm had to actually mount an autocannon, but when I did, the way was clear. A trio of SRM 6s offers devastating short range punch, a 260 standard engine drives her at 92 KPH (after speed tweak) to get those SRMs into optimal range without the XL's drawbacks, and her maxed armor, speed, and two empty arms to block shots with results in surprising durability. I fell in love with the mech all over again, my kill and damage totals spiked heavily, and more importantly the high speed gives me great tactical flexibility to assist my team anywhere on the battlefield.
The only real drawback I had noted with the build was a lack of range - out beyond ~300 meters I could do no real damage, and if the situation prevented me from closing I couldn't really contribute. However, the recent removal of R&R gave me the weight I needed for one last tweak. Free rearms meant I could drop a ton of ammo, free repairs meant I could save a ton by switching to ferro, and I had concluded that legs were shot so infrequently that I could afford to drop an entire half ton of armor from each. These three tons let me upgrade my pair of mediums to a single large laser, and now I can reach out and touch something at 500+ meters. She can run hot if I'm incautious with laser fire, but it's all about riding that ragged edge to keep pounding out the missiles.
Fearless she is by name, and that aptly describes the playstyle that I find works best in piloting her. Get in close, pour on the damage, and don't let them catch their breath for a moment. Twist, weave, use those shield arms, and use every drop of that mobility to stay just out of their best firing arcs. It's easy to get in too deep, but if you keep your head and don't overheat she's got the speed to get you back out again. Her preferred prey is mostly things slower and clumsier than herself, but she's still got the speed to stay within shouting distance of a light, and it only takes one mistake on their part for her SRMs to send those cute little arms and legs pinwheeling across the battlefield.
Overall, the mix of high speed, powerful close range punch, good durability, and long range plinking ability her current build offers gives me probably the most tactical flexibility and leverage of any of my mechs. That's not really the reason I keep coming back to her again and again, though. Sometimes you just know that you've found your perfect match, and that perfect harmony between pilot and mech turns matches into almost zen experiences, blurs of movement and explosions. So if you want to find me, look for the centurion spinning through the heart of the fight or pouncing on the unwary loners, dishing out punishing volleys of SRMs and shrugging off the return fire. There's probably no point in trying to talk to me, though - I most likely won't be able to hear you over the sound of how awesome my mech is.

At present, I've got several 'mechs I use regularly with a good amount of success. Most all of them are Cataphracts save two Hunchbacks (my founders Hunchy, and my 4 SP Which I break out on rare occasions).
The 'mech I'm finding I generally do best with is my 2X cataphract with the following loadout: Endosteel internal structure, double Heatsinks, a trio of Medium lasers, an AC 20 with 3 tons of ammo, and an SRM 4 with one ton of ammo. With speed tweak it moves about 72 KpH, so fast enough to get around. It also sports 400 points of armor for protection.
I've had a good degree of success with it, and it's a fun 'mech to brawl with.

That is one reason I stopped using light and ECM mechs. So the 6PPC Splatterpult is already the harder than normal mode I'd say since you are constantly overheating. And there are lots of lol if you can get the RVN-3L or COM-2D with PPCs.
Until the lagshield and ECM issues are fixed this game is just inbalanced-online.

Yeah, those cicadas are op. I have played both, still use the ecm version.
Also 2 ppc ecm cicada is great.
I use dragon (ac10, ssrm2, 4mlas, max. Engine) and 4ppc awesome. Also the ecm cicada. Not sure what the 4th mech would be, so i just save cash for now.
