Open Mouths Let Stupidity Leak Out

I've seen self-proclaimed genertals rush in, get blown up, then spend the rest of the match berating their team and blaming everyone else for their deaths.
I've seen pilots run their mechs right in front of concentrated friendly fire and then spend the rest of the match bitching about how they were shot in the back by team mates.
I've seen dead pilots issue constant streams of orders to those pilots still alive, and then rage when the orders aren't followed.
I've gotten to listen to folks rage about how capturing resource points in a conquest game is stupid, or how playing defense is for losers, or a myriad of other dribble.
As an example, I recently had a Forest Colony PUG Conquest match in which a proclaimed 4 man squad announced that they were going water. That's great. I was piloting a Cicada, which I'm new at using, and ran and captured the two closest resourse points, both on land.
I then saw that this four-man squad was getting steadily barraged by enemy LRMs stationed along the shore line. So I set about harrassing the missle boats, killing one and sending two others running.
I then joined the main melee in the water, fighting a speedy Centurian that I had wounded earlier. One of the dead pilots on my team, from the four-man, starts issuing orders to me. "Why aren't you fighting that Raven!? Get your *** on that Raven! You should be on that Raven!"
Yeah..well..the Centurian is as fast, or nealy so, as the Raven and is more heavily damaged. He's also focused on me. So I kill the Centurian and THEN go after the Raven, cause I'm a Raven pilot usually, and I know this is gonna be a long, circling fight.
So while Im fighting this Raven, apparently my two surviving teammates are sitting off at a resource point, (maybe disconnected?) and the dead self-promoted general of our team is busy insulting me in chat, saying I can't hit anything (even though I landed almosy every shot, but his view as spectator may have been lagging), and laughing at me while I fight the Raven. Of course I'm a bit too busy to respond back to him, and after I killed the Raven and ended the game in Victory, with three kills and two assists and number one ranking, there is no opportunity to respond back.
I know..it's the internet and thick skin, and ignore the jerks, etc, etc, etc, But it is getting to be really annoying and I've come around to the thinking that pilots of destroyed mechs should NOT be allowed to type into chat while the match continues.
I have seen great, encouraging chat from dead pilots as well, and that's wonderful...but the many, many idiots out there, or the many mech-heads that THINK they are always right, tend to leave a more lasting and negative impression.

Competent dead pilots can still call targets and do logistics.

1. Ignore the jerks.
2. People in spectator mode need to realize that spectator mode is generally laggy. The pilot is probably not missing.
3. People need to realize that everyone has a playstyle. Some prefer lasers, others ACs, etc. Your firepower stat on your mech doesn't tell the whole story. The build they prefer isn't your preference. I've spectated many times and hold my tongue when I see them do something I wouldn't necessarily do because I've seen too often that their technique works.
4. (yes I said 3) Many people are still learning. Give them time.

I've gotten a number of rude responses, but ehh, that's the internet for you. Can't help some people. It's all worth it when one guy who was getting frustrated listens and then cores that annoying light.

Jerks will be jerks.
That being said, if you are in a Cicado, job #1 is bitchslapping lights, end of story barre-none. You are the only one that can run with them, and their ECM shouldn't affect you. Centurion, no matter how fast, are a LOT easier to hit with a big mech.

If my wife and i are both dead and spectating the same mech it will often be firing in different places on our screens, and ammo counts and damage of the mech are sometimes different.

Ah..but you see...that is YOUR opinion, and is certainly a viable use for the mech. And you are certainly free to take a Cicada out and hunt lights all you want. I, however, was doing several things with mine, such as capturing resource points, harassing and killing LRM boats, and killing the Centurian that was shooting at me, BEFORE killing that pesky Raven, which took considerable time to do.
Now if I had just went after the raven, most likely I wouldn't have captured resources, wouldn't have stopped any lrm boats from tearing apart my team, and would have been picked to pieces by the enemy while I circled with the raven. See? Lots of options,,and having a dead pilot shouting orders at me while I am very much contributing is not that fun.

Actually I think it's a problem of sorts, as I often miss USEFUL input. Also it's sometimes barely readable against the background. And it's screen location doesn't help. Or maybe I'm just too slow.

I wonder about this often... if they were so talented why did they die so quickly? I understand sometimes you get yourself into a horrible situation but I suspect it happens often.

In saying all this I will have to admit that I am a blabbermouth who can't' help but offer advice every now and then. The guy going crazy with his LLs at 50m range, in desporate danger of cooking off his unused SRM ammo. The guy unloading LRMs on the commando who keeps dancing inside minimum range every time he sees the launch. The guy ignoring the hunchback dropping alphas into his back as he chases the Raven. Its hard not to try and drop a hint. But I try and keep it constructive.
Sorry if I wandered of topic :-)

I have no problem pointing this out to said morons either (unless I know they went down swinging). More than likely, but if you are dead, your advice will not help me..

"better to stay silent, and be thought a fool, then open your mouth and remove all doubt."
Sadly, the concept has been lost on a good portion of society in general, with a very me first, entitled mentality and an inability to take ownership of ones own flaws, coupled with the hubris that only Internet Anonymity can provide.
I simply ignore them, and go about my business.

I don't want to get rid of chat after I die. I mostly enjoy watching other people. Sometimes to learn from the good, sometimes to give a rookie an advice (but never on aiming because I know my sight is not the same then his cause of lag) or just to see how the game ends.
What I hate is, when the chat is broken after I die or when the words i'm just typing get ripped apart (happens when my spectaded buddy dies). I also would like to have a chat as long the score is shown on the end. In that case you can react to people that tried to disabuse you or just say a few words about the game (at least "gg")).

Actually your spectator mode lag.no lag has to do with your computer. If you lag normally, you lag in Spectator. If you don't then likewise you don't. I almost never have lag, and have aided some of my teammates (particularly with the 4 FPS bug) to be able to move to cap, time a shot, etc. I have even scored surrogate kills for a black screened comrade.

Report system just like in LOL... 3 -4 "verbal abuse" report than a 2 day ban, and they will know their place ...
But if it is beyond the possibility the OP's idea of "dead can't talk is enough"

That is my opinion, and it carries for Cicada, Jenner, Raven, and Commando.
If you see a light, drop what ever you think you are doing adn KILL IT, so the bigger mechs can worry about the bigger mechs and not shooting each other squirrel fishing.
