Just what it sounds like. Should we have a TDM mode and/or return base cap rewards to assault.

TDM is not 'dropshipmode', its a gamemode that you can chose (or not chose) just like any other gamemode.

I definitely agree with both. Some are adamant about this remaining a simulator, but there are others who just want nonstop Mech vs Mech fighting.

A mode with respawns can only help this game, not hurt it. Dropship mode or something else with respawns can't come quick enough.

Feel free to disagree, but no TDM for me. Not at all.
if it is optional and I can de-select TDM I wouldn't care.
If it would be a possible GM I cannot de-select -> back to WoT or CS.
I personally hate TDM since IMO with no respawn nothing really matters waht you do, it is just run/gun/spawn in the end.

That is the reason why I love Elimination GM so much:
It does matter what I do. One mistake, me is done. No 2nd chance. More tactical gameplay in battlescale.
With respawn: Just another e-***** contest for the score on the leaderboard.

-> Everybody has his preferences, yours may differ.

I'd love a team death match, but I want it without respawns. I'm not sure why TDM implies respawns to other users.

Team Deathmatch traditionally has respawns in every game ever made in existence.

In any case, go ahead and add in an optional game mode: TDM (with respawns)

This game mode would be completely optional, you could still play the game as it is now, its just that you would be able to select maps with respawns if you chose.

If I were a betting man, I would place money on the TDM with respawns becoming the most played portion of the game.]

Edit: Dropship mode is a game mode where you can choose 4 mechs and when one dies, the next one in the queue drops. This gives players four "lives" spread across four different types of mech in a single match.

It is not the same as traditional TDM with nonstop respawns until a score limit is reached, but it is a game mode that allows for more chances than just one.

Edit#2: Also given that Assault and even Conquest are already almost always played out with one team destroying the other and ignoring the objectives, adding in TDM without respawns seems kind of pointless.

I would LOVE TDM. We need to be able to die, choose the next chassis, and respawn. It can't take that long to implement. 30/60 minute matches would be a blast. PGI/IGP sure like to make 360* turns and go back on their word against community concerns, but when we ask for something, they sit like a rock. The most response we get out of the Devs are for emergency hot-fixes which should of been avoidable all together during internal testing.

This is similar to the whole 3rd person argument. "I want it to stay a simulator! This isn't a game for casuals!", "3rd person would be funner", when the solution is to just give players a choice, and implement it in a way that won't disrupt competitive play.

Give us a choice!

Dropship would be fantastic to have, but it's probably a ways off, and probably would be more technical to play than TDM. Having TDM then Dropship, or eventually both would be just fantastic.

as a note, you can not 'Not choose' a game mode. You can only choose a single one. Its a small difference, but for those who like assault and conquest and like the random drops, they'd have to pick and choose just so they didnt get stuck with TDM.

Either way, TDM with respawns? In MWO? not interesting at all. maybe as part of a training room, but otherwise? it removes all consequence.

I'm all for a game-mode with no Capping, but not respawning.

That's what a game filter is for, and everyone has a different tastes so we need choices. Besides, assault without any real capping reward essentially is your no-respawn TDM now. But not everyone wants to wait 5+ minutes just to get into their mech and find the enemy. It's not exactly a twitch shooter, but it's still an action game. End game scores are your reward/consequence system anyhow.

another reason for not wanting TDM? Ammo and spawn camping. since there's no supply chain, what are we gonna do, run near a mech corpse and pick up his AC20 that he dropped or his ammo when he got killed? and if you get a spawn nailed down in this?

nope. I cant see where it would be good. Not for the genre. Its good to have something unique.

Yeah... unique as in being the first online capable mechwarrior game not to have a TDM or Waves system. The most played game mode in all the previous games.

If people keep suggesting respawns I'm going to delete this thread, because respawns are a terrible forcasualbabies idea.

Then your suggesting to have a game mode with 5+ caps, another with 2 caps, then the same thing with no caps; PGI would get flamed hard for having 3 nearly identical game modes; and that would be wasting our time. Atleast with assault, the last damaged mech is forced to either fight, or get capped if he runs and hides. So essentially your asking for nothing.

I'm asking for TDM with respawns, so go ahead and label and any other hardcore battletech suggesting TDM a 'casual'. A map filter with TDM, with a choice of 1 life, or #/unlimited respawns should make a lot of people happy

If your going to dismiss people like that, then go ahead and delete the thread because your wasting our time.

And THIS, I'm totally for. Unless someone can come up with a game mechanic for reloading missiles and ballistics on the fly that doesnt seem absurd. Otherwise, running out of ammo and becoming a guaranteed kill for someone respawning? That doesnt even adequately reflect TDM of other games, since there's weapons and ammo all over the place to pick up.

If there's no reload mechanic, then it becomes... all energy weapons? meh... that doesnt do it for me either.

Don't get me wrong, I'm all for a solid period of time for pounding rompy stompy robots, I just dont see the mechanic of how to make it feasible, and not ridiculously off track of what the dev's have all ready stated they're going for with this game.

removing capping from assault as a gamemode would be one way. having 'last man standing' matches (ie. solaris) is another. But racking up kills on guys for no other reason than you've spawn-camped them or they ran out of ammo? Don't need it here.

And I'm not married to my opinion either. Present a working feasible argument and I may well just change my vote. (not that it counts any more than any one else's vote)

I think that the major advantage to TDM and Dropship are really the same thing. Longer matches. I wouldn't mind conquest or assault mode as much if I wasn't having to constantly return to mech lab. Play 4 or so matches still with varying maps and game modes and I would be content with that too. TDM seems like a real blast and some strategy could be used in Dropship mode such as the order you mechs drop in. Do I start with the powerhouse, or end with it?

The thing that really seems to be an issue across the board is the lack of devoted action time. It's play a match 5-10 minutes(being generous as I've only ever had one draw) then you wait to get back to your lab, then have to wait to launch, then wait again to actually get under way, and finally you're drawing male genitilia in the sand with your ML on the way to the objective. A lot of waiting goes into the match by match form we have now.

How about this as a practically applicable 30 minute brawling match?

HMMMM Yet another poll showing a 2 to 1 ratio of players in favor of TDM.

Devs.... it sure would suck to lose 2/3 of your player base because you choose not to add TDM.
