So, How Is The Commando Now?

It seems like you can't carry too much ammo, so even if you're successful you won't be all that productive for all that long...
Right now I'm grinding c bills and I was wondering if I should take a little detour on my path to getting 3 Catapults* and 3 Cataphracts** to try out an ECM mech.
Because I went insane for a little while and bought a Commando (for the SRM slots, IIRC things worked out great but I would run out of ammo and then be utterly useless... doubly so now that ramming has been taken out), I have a Commando that I can try out ECM with... OR I could buy a Raven- but that would set me back even further...
*Still not sure which should be my third catapult I really feel like the K2 is just meh, and the C4 doesn't seem all that great... more like a stalker-lite.
**Aside from the 4x AC/2 Cataphract which I cannot get to work properly due to macros working IN GAME CHAT BUT NOT TO TRIGGER THE WEAPONS GROUPS, and Ilya "overpowered" Muromets, I really cannot bring myself to get enthusiastic about any of the Cataphracts...

3L = 2 SSRM + almost medium chassis armor.
Overall, I'd say the 3L is the better ECM light. Though, only by abit.
Both are pretty awesome.
My 2D has around 300 SSRM ammo iirc, just enough to last a match.
EDIT: just checked, I'm rocking with 400 SSRM ammot.

The Raven actually doesn't have that much more durability, there's just something wonky about the hitbox.

They're not, actually.
Here's your build, Sephlock
195XL
3 SSRM2s
3 tons SSRM2 ammo (or 2 tons & a ML or TAG - 3 tons is 50 full salvos. 2 would be 33.33333333)
Endo Steel
DHS (3 will be external)
Max armor
ECM

3L has more lazors, so it fares better when ECM is not on your side.

3L has more armor and internals. The increase in survivability over the commando, with the fact that lasers, while not as good as streaks, aren't completely worthless if you can figure out where your target'***** box actually is, just pushes the 3L over the top as far as an all-around team player.

And I agree for the most part, particularly for 8v8.
Sadly, I fail as Raven pilot.
But the 2D does, in my opinion, dish out more damage; or seems to at least. Doesn't make it better, but it is a point to consider.

I would think that depends on your aim with lasers. Looking at both builds having the max number of streaks and lasers: The 2D gets a medium laser and 3 streaks for an alpha of 20. The 3L gets 3 medium lasers and 2 streaks for a 25 point alpha. If you can shoot well the 3L will do around 20% more damage with each alpha.
If they both tried for max damage (2D with 3 SRM6s and 1 ML vs 3L with 2 SRM6s and 3 ML) the Commando would be on top with a 50 alpha vs the Raven's 45 (which, interestingly, no Jenner can match either with a max 40 point alpha off the D).
I would say in my experience the 3L always fares better compared to the 2D in the post-ECM game, but that is somewhat expected when there is a 10 ton (almost 30%) weight difference between the mechs.

Feel free to work them if you like them, but know you're just handicapping yourself and your team. Before the RnR got removed they at least had an advantage of making good money because their repair bill was nothing.(Lowest in game) But now that's gone, so you may as well ride a bigger Mech. If you want an ECM, go with the 3L. If not, go with Jenners.
