BTW - I don't mind dropping against premades as a solo player.
Cheers!

I've been playing with people from that list for most of my drops and it's a much better experience if you don't want to join a clan or anything. No one will tell you how to play your game.
Some will use voice com off and on but isn't required. People stick together and are quite helpful and welcoming.

Go join a voice comm server. Go to No Guts No Galaxy or some other MWO voice server. I say again, you don't have to join a unit to play in a four man team!
If you choose not to use voice comms that is on you, not PGI.
Go ahead, call me a fanboy and ignore my advice. If you insist on throwing yourself under the bus you don't have anyone to blame but yourself.
What if I don't want to play with the same team over and over? There is currently no way to use voice chat with those you are randomly paired with. Even if you're in a group of four, you STILL can't use voice to communicate with the rest of the players matched on to your team. The problem also remains that if you're in a group of four, you may just go from losing no matter what you do to winning no matter what you do, which isn't really any better, as it's still not a great match.
If you want to play with an organized group, your option is fine. But like every other team based game, the vast majority of players are either playing solo or sticking to a particular server (which isn't an option here). We need some sort of integrated voice. It works for nearly every other online PC game. From what I understand C3 will do that eventually, but you can't just pretend it's here already because you can join a group.

I still dont get what you need voice for.
The most we coordinate per voice in an average 4man drop is "Where do you want to go?" "Erm, lets go G-line".
You could easily just type the same in chat.
Btw WoW once introduced an ingame voice chat. And as expected, noone ever used it. Although voice communication is more essential there than in MWO. I dont even know if it still exists or if they completely dropped it.
Its just annoying to be in voice chat with random people you just play one game with.

Voice isn't absolutely a necessity, I'll give you that. But there are a lot of cases where I can A:Tell my team I've just spotted four or five mechs in an ECM blob, and then die while typing, or B: Not tell anyone anything. Or similarly, I could type the status of a target (Triple AC dragon in B4 almost lost it's arm, etc...), or I could shoot at said target. Calling targets in the middle of a large scale brawl is the same idea.
None of these things are critical, of course, but without integrated voice, there are a lot of situations where you have to decide between sharing important information and staying alive to make use of it.
I don't think anyone is actively arguing against integrated voice (you can always turn it off), but the OP seems to suggest it's not even worth implementing it.
There are of course other options that are (almost) as good as integrated voice, such as a radio/pre-defined lines similar to Battlefield 1942 or Team Fortress 2, where you can press a key to bring up a list of pre-defined messages that you can broadcast to your team. But we don't have anything at all right now. (Excepting the commander interface, but while that's semi-useful, it only applies to one player).

Groups smaller than 4 man would be left to the 'pug' queue. Would be interesting to see how fast the group norm becomes 3 mans, I was surprised how fast the 8 man queue dwindled into 4 mans.
Since PGI seems unwilling or unable to fix the current 'pug' queue so that each side has a 4man to better balance teams, this would give 4mans a competitive queue and maybe ease the 'pug' queue woes. PGI has acknowledged the issue, but waiting several more months for a possible fix is liable to be detrimental to the games future. I love the game and want to see it grow. Only a minority post here and there are a lot of these posts and that indicates a problem that is likely larger than many here want to admit. I will continue playing in any case.

...I smell desperation.
Still. I wish we could go a week or two without someone of the OP's ilk starting yet another one of these inane threads.

This. The "Casual Need Not Apply" model of game design is as dead as the subscription model. I'm looking for a way to burn off a quick match during my lunch break or between dinner and bed. Being fodder for premades is not an enjoyable experience, at all, and when compounded with other glaring problems with the game (looking at you, netcode), it makes that value prop less and less appealing.
Those of us who work for a living and have more money than playtime are the bread and butter "cash cow" of the f2p mmo market. Sell us convenience and we'll buy it. But if the game is crap for us, we'll move on. Simple as that.
