I have noticed more and more stalkers and catapults in games now. They are all not beginners either.

Stalkers/Catapults loaded up with tons of LRM rockets with 2x LRM 20's. I have jsut played a match that had 4 Stalkers/Catapults in game.

Where is the variety, its pointless in designing loads of mechs for the game, if people just use Stalkers and Catapults all the time.

The maps are too open, so you get nailed all the time, before you can close in on them. We need mech limits on teams or something, because this is getting boring fast.

I could quite happily do the same thing as everyone else, but you end up with no variety in-game.

Instead of opening a thread to cry about it, stop going in the open then?

Just because everyone else on the forum is crying, you have to do it too?
Seriously, this kind of spam has to stop.

Erm im not sure what game you are playing but I have not seen any evidence of this. There see, I have just countered your entirely anecdotal evidence with an anecdote of my own.

Do you have anything else to back this up?

Do you even know what Battletech is about?

Be active at suppressing support mechs or ignore them and feel their wrath when they pop into view and chime in on a brawl, eating your sides mechs to pieces.

These maps are far from open.

Next map is a desert map. Expect open maps in the future along the lines of caustic.

Think of LRMS as artillery.

IF your side doesn't have any, you have an uphill and bloody battle to fight.

IF you were getting Gaussed or AC 20'd as you prance in the open at your enemy, you'd be complaining about that.

DON'T advance in the open unless the coast is clear or the enemy is occupied.

Maybe your 2nd post won't be nonsense.

I pity anyone running LRM at this time.

Incidentally, there have been loads of times I have rounded a corner and found myself melted in about 30 secs by incoming missles. But I suspect that is working as intended

It would be nice to have some visual indicators of areas currently covered by artillery, but thats just a pipe dream at the moment.

LRMs are flavor of the month. Just wait until the Trebuchet is out then and only then will there be even more LRMs.

Probably best for people who hate missiles to simply jump into an ECM mech and call it a day OR put in AMS to help.

one of the trial mechs is a stalker with LRMs. the stalker is also the newest mechs, so everybody is driving them

1) try ecm
2) try hiding behind...anything
3) your mech tells you when you're being locked
4) stop being bad
5) use AMS
6) hide behind some more stuff

Oh look, a new and highly original thread.

WTF are you smoking? You mean to say the new assault mech is popular? Oh no! I also see tons of Ravens, Cataphracts, Hunchbacks, Jenners, and Atlases. Should we nerf those too?

Every single map has TONS of cover to use. If you're walking out in the open and consistently getting killed by LRMs, then you have no one to blame other than yourself.

You seem new.

There are legit concerns that require some foot stomping and pages of QQ.

LRM's aren't one of them.

I think the generic attitude of rushing the enemy to engage them in hugging distance stems from no collision and falling down.

People would be loath to close distance that fast or cross open ground at the enemy with the chance of getting knocked down and pummeled in short order.

Dog fighting mech combat is dangerous as all hell and I can't wait for a leash to be put back on the lights.

So your telling me that you have not noticed an increase in Catapults and Stalker use in games??

Chavette you dont understand, i dont blatantly run out in the open, to get killed, when there are 3 catapults in 1 game, they tend to be able to get at you from various angles.

I'm just stating something that may put gamers off if it carries on, seen as this is in beta, adjsutments and improvements are still being made.

LRM 20's need to be tweeked in my opinion, LRM 10 are alot more reaasonable. Also Catapults can carry 800 rounds (40 volleys) of LRM 20 ammo, seems a bit much.

Stalker is a new mech.

Do the math.

Catapults have always been popular.

And LRM 20's need to tweaked HOW?

Launching both at the same time creates tremendous heat and it's a far cry from a for sure hit. Some always miss etc etc.
AMS blasts at them and ECM completely makes them useless.

The weapon system is fine.

We've already been through range increases, decreases and damage tweaking.

Other systems need more attention.

I used an AMS and had 2000 rounds, i removed it, as it hardly made a dent in an LRM 20 barrage.

Hm, if i made it around the corner and get shot i shot back or in case i can not do so step back around the corner and cover my self.
Sometimes i step around a corner and get headshot by a Dual Guass or 2 to 6 LL/PPC boat.
Nerf all - anything is OP

It rips apart LRm 5's and does decent to LRM 10's.

That's why you stick with people who also run those weapon systems.

And it's AMS, not ECM.

You're gonna get nuked by LRM's. You're also going to get a one shot alpha in the face from SRM's occasionally. That's what we call..."playing Battletech & Mechwarrior".

Yeah I've also noticed an increase in LRM usage.

An increase from almost no LRMs to "Hey look people are starting to use LRMs again". ECM almost killed them but the 750m range TAG plus the new Stalker chassis is bringing them back.

It's definitely not as bad as the LRMwarrior Online that resulted from Artemis being put in game. Not even close to it. LRMs are just viable again so people are using them.

I don't think it's at the stage it was a month or two ago, where it was quite common to get 3-4 D-DCs or awesomes stocked to the gills with LRMs. I think we're definitely seeing way more direct fire from LRMs which is where they are shining at the moment.
