Pugs whined and cried. But now they blame there losses on 4 man. So PGI is working on Phase 3 and we'll get 1-8 mans back.

And those of you doing premades cried like little girlie-men when 8man drops were taken out, yet when 8-mans are put back in for some strange reason most of you went back to pugstomping in 4mans. Hilarious really.

The reason the 'players online' tracker was removed before October-2012 was that there was a significant number of accounts actually playing during prime time. Numbers dropped from 3,000 in early August to under 900 people playing at that time.

Based on the frequency of 8-man's meeting each other, and doing some statistics. Most gamers estimate that there are less than 1,900 people who play this game during active North American prime time.

A simple estimate is to guess the normal population of this game, and see how many matches it would take of random 8-man teams before you would get to meet that same team again. Then goal seek the population back down to it's true population size.

Hope that helps you Alot.

PGI will likely never disclose the true number, as it is material to their go-forward business plan, and would impact their financial obligations (ie. it would need a press release to answer this question).

Oh,and since the 'edit button' is broken

you should be able to back out the true size of this F2P's population over about 50 game's. Have fun in your statistics building.

As a long term pug player and only pug player balance should be done only around 8 man groups.
But they will not give out the details as it would point to many flaws in many area's of this game and group players overall.

But that being said the real reason there is not many 8vs8 teams is that they are to busy rolling pugs thinking they are great and telling us pugs we are wrong.

1900 huh. Thats even worse than the 2000 I was using to show a lack of commmunity growth over time.

Opponents will say it is idle speculation, but one can speculate about why we cant see how many people are playing too.

I guess if they thought it was a problem killing the game, they would have pushed up the match making patch, or addressed the community.

Its hard to say.
