If my legs are blown off, why does my mech explode? I demand to keep fighting to the last possible moment. If my engine is running strong, let me fight! I will be writhing on the ground firing at the enemy until destroyed or stepped on.

"To the last, I grapple with thee; from hell's heart, I stab at thee; for hate's sake, I spit my last breath at thee." - quoted by Khan Noonien Singh

When a part gets destroyed on this game, it's really destroyed. If you notice arms get blown off entirely. I assume the developers intend for this kind of result to carry over to legs as well. Using this logic your legs have been blown off, you're going to topple over.

Yeah they don't have an animation for the legs getting blown off, if you argue that though you're shooting yourself in the leg, no pun intended. Because if they did make it so they were actually blown off, you would topple over after just using one.

Also if you look in the mechlab, your legs carry two leg actuators one foot actuator, and a hip. When other parts of the mech are destroyed you lose everything in them. I don't see how it would be any different here. So when a leg is destroyed you loose it's actuators It would be like having your knee cap bashed out in real life. If it happens to one leg you can drag it along, if it happens to both you're going to fall down.

With all that in mind though, here's a little defense for your point. While the mech should toople down I don't really see why upper body weapons couldn't function. However I doubt you could torso twist so really any chance you would be able to do damage is minimal.

It's a strong point though. The mech should be still operational even with no arms or legs and lying on the ground. Would be splendid to include this into the gameplay. Regardless of your ability to act, your mech has not been terminated yet.

it's ok how it is.
ony problem i have related to legs is, that a destroyed leg can consume unlimited amounts of damage. A smart pilot can stay allive really long against a slow mech that is trying to leg him.

Seriously... i wouldn't like to be forced to sit in my immobile mech just to get all payments...

On the other hand, i kind of agree with you, the mech isn't destroyed and weapons are probably functional, but from a gameplay point of view i think it makes sense as it is.

In mw4, this was handled by damaging the good leg if you kept shooting the bad... makes sense not having your damage go to waste, but doesnt make sense in realism.

The effect you are not seeing is the falling damage (both legs gone, you will fall). Falling damage in the TT was enough to destroy a mech outright even if it fell with both its legs intact. I suspect losing your legs is probably causing you to fall and you are being destroyed from the fall and not losing the legs per se.

Of course, there are no pilot skills (dice rolls in the TT) to try and keep your mech upright so this may just be bunk.

I'm pretty sure that damage done to an already destroyed leg transfers to the Torso. I'm almost certain I've tested and proven this theory against an afk player during an enemy cap and recall that further direct damage to the already removed leg transferred to the torso. This effect mimic'ed the TT rule when damage was landed on a destroyed part. The damage transfers towards the center though through the remaining outer armor. I doubt I'm wrong here as I remember doing this and thinking to myself "Well that's cool that they coded that in, I better make sure next time to switch targets to the remaining good leg to get better salvage next time."
