Just for fun i've equipped my jenner with 6 flamers to see how much heat they generate to other mech. Unfortunately my team mates said that heat level does not go above ~30% ;)

So here is my question. Why do you even have flamers and machineguns in game if they are 100% useless?

in my opinion flamers should :
1) generate more heat to your opponent than to your own mech! Basicly flamers should work as weapon which disables enemies (overheating!)

2) increase slightly damage level

I agree that Flamers should be more efficient or do more damage. There is already a thread on this topic in the suggestions section.

It may be just for fun Atak, But the flamers do damage as i can attest to as you manage to melt all my armour and core me with flamers and then went on to attack and cripple an Atlas , only problem with this is you were on THE SAME TEAM.
If you want to test out builds fine but do it on team speak with 15 friends , do not crash pugs and ruin the game for others.

They are working on tweaks to make flamers more effective on the heat scale, won't probably affect MG's but it should make them a better utility tool.

And I wholly disagree with Shanow, pug drops are by far the best place to test random and fun builds.

Yes, but on your own team? Really?

Flamers do work, but you got to boat them... and by boating them I mean run 3 mechs with 3-7 flamers each then a few medium lasers and have a hunter killer with them to kill off the shut down mech. It does work, you can cook off ammo, and force shutdowns, but the amount of effort to concentrate and force a shutdown is beyond believe.

I still see flamer builds on all kinds of battlemechs from Hunchies, Jenners to Awesomes and even Stalkers. But it's fun if you tag up with at least one flamer mech to get in someones face with them, to then pick them apart with 2 light mechs. Hoping to see the flamer and MG changes soon, then the BBQ squads will be roaming.

anyone remember loading up 20 flamers in Mechwarrior 3 and 1-shotting another mech with an alpha strike and having them instantly go nuclear blowing up everything around them in a mile radius?

ahh those were the days...

Flamers where an issue in CB and had their stats set to the current version. In closed beta people could boat flamers and shutdown and kill mechs with little to no ill effect to their heat. Many people in CB knowing this abused them and the result was the devs nerfing the weapon system to bring it more in line with the lore as a pretty useless weapon.

Funny had some joker blast the back of my Atlas yesterday until I realized it wasn't some distant fire hitting me. I drop back and he goes on to flame the back of the next mech in front of him. As we are now all dead after having our armor weakened by a person put on our team he runs and hides. He did seem to get heated when I told the opposing team where he was hiding.

I didn't bother to take names or report him I figure players like that will grief out and leave soon enough.

I can assure you all that flamers do seem to do damage to rear armor at least.

Flamers are bugged, so no wonder that they are useless even if you put 6 of them. Putting 6 piles of dirt on top of each other still doesn't build you a castle.
