Go Merc. Then if any faction treats you bad you can make sure you kill them in your next contract.

Howdy,

I thought so, but these days with all the new drinks popping up every where was not sure.

I just came home from a local yakitori place and passed on the sake this evening, like it but it can be real dangerous. :P

I prefer drinking Asahi Super Dry, Shochu or a good Highball. :P

Man I love Tokyo!

Can you just go rouge and not choose a faction - but choose a faction later on? If so, that's what I'd want. If not, then probably Steiner or Davion. (Steiner 'cause they see a lot of clan action and Katrina is a hottie. Davion because they have Victor and end up trouncing Katrina.)

I suspect all players will be portrayed as mecenaries. It gives flexibility. You can choose to serve one faction exclusively, hop around, change units, pick you own mechs, ect. Soldiers and Clan Warriors aren't given those freedoms.

< S > p.s

That is Bs by the way , to say house HK is evil , thats just wrong HK = Japan

Actually I'm pretty happy calling House Kurita evil, it doesn't=Japan, it equals a bastardised re-imagining of Japanese culture to serve a nationalistic purpose. If you want to be precise Kurita is the Japanese Empire in the ealry part of the 20th Century.

A brutal police state that oppressed all forms of internal dissent and committed large scale civilian atrocities in China, all justified under a twisted misinterpretation of Bushido.

adhale2, the biggest proble with the FWL is that it was the least defined of the original factions. As has been pointed out the main schtick has always been it has civil wars.

Lots and lots of civil wars, I suspect that original design idea for the house was that it was modelled on late Republican Rome, i.e it was an Oligarchical Plutocracy with controlled vested in a single house whose control is based on political power and personal power.

Personally I think that sounds pretty cool but nothing was ever really done with it. The main reason I haven't joined them is that the house actually doesn't do that much in the universe. The first major event in the post Succession Wars time line for them is an attack on the Terran corridor in 3056/3057(?)

But if you are looking for a house which has good heavy and assault mechs (Hermes II, Trebuchet, Hunchback, Thunderbolt, Orion, Awesome and Stalker) and has a degree of conscience then you can do a lot worse then Marik.

Well, you can't go wrong with the Free Worlds' League. (House Marik) I mean, as things are 'Thomas Marik' is a pretty awesome dude nearing the awesomeness of Victor Steiner-Davion, but with the FWL you have Parlimant, and pretty much every world in the FWL gets to self govern, citizens have fairly decent rights in most worlds,

Plus we were the ones to originally have Solaris, and we have the Cicada and Awesome.

Not a bad choice by any means.

The history and canon won't decide which house is better so this way of thinking won't work for all. This way of thinking is more of an image thing is it not. Players are making their decision now but they could find themselves wishing they had the perks that exist in another faction.

We don't know each factions perks yet. They could change our whole experience and I will be surprised if they don't.

I usually dont go evil.. so i guess neutral or good would do.. but why would Marik be Chaotic?

Until Thomas Marik later consolidates his power and forces parliament to vote "emergency powers" for the Captain General, sound familiar, each member of parliament had inalienable rights and governance of it's province. So before Thomas Marik went all Palpatine, the Free Worlds League was one hell of a chaotic place. Some conflicts across the border with the Steiners would often have FWL backers on both sides at odds against each other. The League during this time period was that kind of place.

I was undecided between Davion and Marik, but as a large part of Davion guys have only MW4 culture...

Besides, I find comforting that the FWL has less players (even though is much larger than Liao and Rasalhague) - looks like we are a more selected faction.

Steiner are down as lawful evil, good grief. LOL

Katrina Steiner was evil. Before and after her, Steiner was pretty Lawful Neutral. (And I'm sorry, I can't agree with Davion being Good: "I give you the Capellan Confederation")

What game perks do you think could come from such a state of affairs?

Perks is probably not the right term huh! Faction traits.

Meh, I don't like that alignment poster. I don't really see any faction as evil (much like I wouldn't see any country as evil).

I chose Marik because it was the House I am most familiar with. Was always my favorite in pencil and paper. Was always curious about Comstar as well and read up on them a bit. But add "Word of Blake" later in the Timeline and Marik gets pretty interesting.

Picking a faction is like picking a sports team, just randomly pick one and then ruthlessly hate anyone who didn't randomly pick the same choice.
