Eh, this build might be fun for a match or two, but kinda boring after that.

slow? lol. I roll a 6ppc stalker with a 300xl. + speed tweak I go 62. Which is plenty for a stalker. as for being fragile, not if you actually know how to turn away from incoming fire. Maybe for a noobie or a less skilled pilot it's not a viable build. But if you know what you're doing, and know how to stay at range away from anything that's not a light, it's amazing. I one shot hunchies on a reg basis. And if the atlas is dumb enough, I can 2 shot em.

I had a similar Stalker to Masterojack (300XL and six PPC's). It was annoying to have the crit space for another DHS, but not the ton (armor was thin enough, already). But after succumbing to LRM fire one too many times and not being able to fire the torso mounted PPC's on Alpine, much of the time, I traded the torso PPC's for 16 srm tubes (2 in each arm and 6 in each side torso), two AMS and four tons of ammo.

For giggles, I go the high risk/ high payoff route and pull the PPC's and SRM's for LRM15's and ML's. When it works, it works BIG. When it fails, I get pwned.

If you're going to shut down every shot, why not equip ER PPCs and be able to protect yourself at close range a bit?

This is what I do. It's an increadibly silly boat, but works for me. Many light mechs get veyr cocky and start cricling me or run in close and think they are safe when my back is at a wall. Then I vaporize them.

I pilot both Jenners and Stalkers. A 6PPC/(ER PPC) Stalker has its own unique intimidation factor but is not hard to deal with. After it fires, it will shutdown giving letting my focus on a side torso (almost all 6PPC stalkers run an XL).

This is not a good mech to start on but can be a fun cheese build although I have never tried it myself (I much prefer my current builds).

I run the standard 4 ppc 1ml std 300 load out on my 3F.

I also run a build something like this on my 3H and still get plenty of damage and kills. You will get best results by playing aggressively with your missiles, I like be within 600 meters. They try to rush as you pour down the lead rain and as soon as they get within 270 meters you light them up with the 3mls to o their already cored CT.

I'd argue PPC Stalker is a good first mech, just not a 6PPC boat.

You can either run 4PPC+Streaks+XL300 or 3PPC+STD300+23DHS.

The first build can do 80 focused dmg in 3 sec, the other can do 150 dmg in 12 sec, without overheating. Both are very good damage dealers against anything that's not a light (the first actually deals with lights OK too).

Weapons located very high up let Stalkers fire over ridges very well, unlike CTF which pretty much have to get shot before they can get high above the ridge to use their low-mounted weapons. Weapons are also arm-mounted giving you great vertical angles unlike the K2.

Best wishes,
Daniel

It makes me sad that the Stalker does what the Awesome should be.

62kph might be fast for a Stalker, but in the grand scheme it's not very much...

That said, i usually have more difficulty bringing down a Stalker than an Atlas (if the pilot is at least remotely competent). It's actually rather easy to hide the damaged side torso and spread damage around. With the Atlas, if you see one torso section, you see them all. Also, Atlas pilots who can keep their arms perfectly aligned to block all shots to the torso are rare, at least in my elo bracket.

PS: If you really know what you're doing you can probably make any 'Mech work. Still, the Stalker is definitely a viable option, with the 6PPC version being the specialist among specialists. Not my first choice for a noob 'Mech, but you'll learn plenty, that much i can promise ;)

PPS: Oh wow. With projectile HSR it's much easier to hit stuff now. Makes all PPC builds far easier to use.
